The appalling experience of a 13 year old rape victim waiting over 2 years for her trial because of a shortage of judges is far from rare. I’ve been back at the criminal bar for 9 months-in my experience the criminal justice system is on its knees. Desperately underfunded

I have clients accused of rape & other serious offences waiting 3 years for trial. We don’t have enough barristers (with the knock on effect of not enough judges) because of 28% cuts to fees. Our prisons are in crisis; court staff poorly paid working in crumbling courts.
The CPS is starved of cash & therefore people. Our police & probation are over stretched - again it comes down to underfunding & undervaluing the importance of an efficient and fair criminal justice system in a healthy democracy.

@BarCouncilChair I wish Mark all the best at the start of his tenure. He will need fortitude & resolution. Tact & diplomacy has accomplished very little in the past. The objective is to save the #CriminalBar. That can’t be done unless we remain unified with #CriminalSolicitors
We must never cut any deal at their expense, & we must stand shoulder to shoulder with them. Any Chair of The Bar or #CBA will be judged harshly if they do not screw their courage to the sticking place. Yes, the ironic source of that quotation is known to me.
If Government refuses to engage in negotiations aimed at averting the collapse of the #CriminalJusticeSystem, & restoring the crumbling Court Estate, the Bar must take unified action.

I fear for our Justice system. 😞
I read the reaction to this and some have been worrisome. The dearth Of Understanding Of simple construct explains how a lengthy tweet or thread is heavily misconstrued by those seeking what to be offended by. I guess I’ll have to make a thread here for context. #CJS
When I say I “fear for” something it doesn’t mean I am afraid of it or throwing in the towel on the issue. It simply means I’m sympathetic to its dereliction which will no doubt lead to an imminent disaster in no distant future. Unfortunately, we live in a clime void of empathy.

It's a criminal offence to falsifying a legal instrument. But if the #MetPolice / #LBRUT do it, then there is not even an investigation. 12 years of silence. Evidence to prove it - ukcoverup.com/search-warrant-

Welcome to the #Metpolice who also changed & falsified my arrest details. Have a look at the evidence here ukcoverup.com/arrest-details as it's all easy to prove & that's why it's never addressed
