The OR #CleanFuels Program will accelerate transportation electrification cutting both air and climate pollution. It has been a success. It's avoided over 4 million tons of climate pollution & rewards investments by clean fuel businesses.
In last night's #ORGovDebate, @KnuteBuehler falsely suggested that we oppose Oregon’s landmark #CleanFuels Program. This is a wholly off the mark. Here's our statement in response: (a thread)
1. The Sierra Club strongly supports Oregon’s #CleanFuels Program, which has reduced carbon dioxide pollution by 1.7 million metric tons over the last two years, at little or no cost to consumers.
2. At the same time, the Sierra Club is looking to make sure that biofuels meet higher and higher environmental standards and is seeking to curb federal support for biofuels that offer no improvement over oil and gas.
