Some #ComradesMarathon2023 statistics for all those of you with withdrawal symptoms (don't worry, next year's achey legs will be back soon enough).

16126 runners set out in the cold from the Pietermaritzburg City Hall this year. Some heard Max Trimborn's crow, some didn't...
The 16126 were made up of 12906 men and 3220 women (almost exactly 4:1 ratio). 4860 were youngsters (under 40), 7114 were veterans, 3345 were masters and 807 were grandmasters or older.
By the time the final gun went off in Kingsmead 12 hours later (under surreal circumstances, more on that later) they had been thinned to 14897 finishers (92.37% of starters); 11942 men (92.5%) and 2955 women (91.8%).
