1/ If a founder is building #consumer business like #gaming #mobile #media or others and wants to raise from investors, it's crucial to find and talk to the right investor who understands the market and has good connections, especially now when many funds are leaning towards B2B
2/ yes, consumer biz is risky, hit driven, and all the tech giants like Facebook or Google would acquire you before it really gets big, but there are some investors who really like BtoC and consistently invest in the space.
3/ funds like @Maveron @davewu @betaworksVC @PereraThisara are good examples. Big funds like @a16z @BessemerVP @sparkcapital @benchmark do invest in consumer but need to know the right partner there and these partners at a big fund is always fighting for an internal allocation

Lets talk about the upcoming 1st meeting of the #FED #FOMC (28-29 January 2020). Specifically, lets talk about the #DOTS...
The #FED #FOMC developed the so called #DotPlot in 2011 as a chart to record each FED's official forecast for the FED's key short-term interest rate (federal funds rate - #FFR). Currently, the FFR, following the December 2019 meeting is in the target range between 1.5% and 1.75%
The most recent #DotPlot is attached below. Each dot represents one #FED official, from the Chairman to fellow Governors. It is anonymous & as such, no one knows which official is responsible for what dot...

#ZeroMDR 1/ Since 2006 I have been the bigget believer and proponent of in digitizing payments - ideally via mobile payments - lord knows I've preached this more than anyone else has! Even my 83-year-old mother is a convert, and I literally refuse to pay anyone in cash!
#ZeroMDR 2/ The benefits of #digitalpayments are spread across a large ecosystem - notably the government, merchants, consumers, banks & Payment Systems Providers (PSPs).

The costs of digital payments are today borne by the banks & PSPs - who pass them on to merchants!
#ZeroMDR 3/
Indirectly merchants pass these on to consumers & have a blended cost. Some explicitly pass these costs to the consumer as a "surcharge".

Today's incentive alignment ensures that cash will continue to be the most (financially) attractive for face2face payments!

Hi, @FrankPallone

I was one of the alleged bots #NotABot defamed for that @JoeSmyser @DrArturoNJ @NicholsonForNJ @PublicGoodProj @WSJ report.

Shall I expect an invite to @EnergyCommerce offices to sign in, in person, to my account?

We can also discuss manipulation of #data.
@FrankPallone @JoeSmyser @DrArturoNJ @NicholsonForNJ @PublicGoodProj @WSJ @EnergyCommerce 👈#NotABot we can discuss allegations as to why I and other's data has been used to accuse innocent people of committing what I consider crimes @JoeSmyser @DrArturoNJ @NicholsonForNJ @PublicGoodProj @WSJ @EnergyCommerce like marketing to children.

I always feel puzzled by what economists say. Many advocate #capitalism and some, however, say socialism is the best. If capitalism is best why do we have recessions, stock market meltdowns and bailouts to big businesses at the cost of the poor?
If socialism is the best, why Bolivars are being thrown away in #Venezuela and why did it collapse in the former Soviet Union in the first place?
They say the Indian economy is on a downward spiral and people are not spending even on #Parle-G. But how come the real estate prices are going up? Is it because the ill-gotten money is being parked in the sector?

A couple of not-altogether-random thoughts:
- The constant complaint that "left-of-centre" values are now -unfairly, yet- prevalent over "conservative" ones may well be inaccurate, given the longtime deliberate strategy in some quarters to shift public perception of "centre" /1
dramatically rightwards. For example, the Republicans of today would consider that President Eisenhower was "dangerously liberal" for his fight against fascism and for decent lives for the poor. Americans generally still agree with Ike, though the Tea Party movement shifted the/2
#GOP's position further rightward; a resurgent racist, pro-fascism element is adding its pressure to that of the "1%" donor class to go even further into fullblown authoritarianism. That is, their new "centre" was what the 1950s called rightwing extremism. But most Americans /3

Let's start our #GlobalEChats on #music!

Among our #discussion topics: 1. #Stakeholders in music and what happens to them? 2. #Production of music 3. #Consumption of music 4. New #technology out there!
Firstly, let's talk about how scary #technology and #advancement can be to #music.

Some stats:
The US lost $12.5 billion a year in total sales due to pirated music.

71k jobs were lost; $2.7bn in annual earnings; $1.1bn of that would have been earned by the industry.
Source:

But as with any #tech #disruption, there are always negative externalities.

In the #music industry, most of the bad press came from #piracy. Sites like Napster and P2P torrenting were rampant back in the day.

#Consumerprotection
This thread explores #consumerprotection aspects in the new broadcasting licensing regime. When in full force it will have hallmarks of what is happening else where in the region. Currently, all broadcasting are in advanced stages of signing agreements
There are three fundamental reasons why we regulate:
1. For effective and robust competition (avoid market failure)
2. Protect #consumers (ensure #consumer interests are protected)
3. Ensure widespread access to networks and services (preventing anti-competitive practices
#Consumerprotection in the new PUBLIC SERVICE PROVIDER LICENCE has a pricing condition requiring the Licensee (broadcaster) to within fourteen (14) days after signing the Licence Agreement, to provide @UCC_Official with a copy of its charges for all licensed services.
