COP27 a "successful" COP. Unique challenge for countries of global South that want to use this as opportunity. Challenging to manage developed countries to steer to consensus outcomes, while preserving Southern solidarity and unity.2/n
Major achievement -- putting L&D funding on agenda, while seeing off putting Article 2.1c also there, to the negotiation rooms. Hopefully it will stay there, while the new finance language (see below) takes over. 3/n

Methodology: two polls via @YouGov in October 2022:
- one poll of 103 MPs, weighted to be representative of party, region, length of service etc
- one poll of 1,800 UK adults
MP surveys are never perfect methodologically, but YouGov do a really good job of them.

Firstly, the good news is there's broad agreement between MPs of all parties and voters on the problem of climate change and support for Net Zero.
They all want to see UK global leadership - one for the UK team at #COP27!

As Egypt hosts #COP27 let’s not forget the estimated 60,000 political prisoners held there.

While the eyes of the world are on #cop27egypt it's crucial to pressure their Government on their human rights record and for political prisoners release.
Reports of human rights abuses range from harassing activists & journalists to torturing prisoners:

But many of the delegations arriving in Sharm el-Sheikh today are also increasing repression of protest. Often in direct response to nonviolent climate movements.
