This week, Scotland has reported:

🔵 606 new cases (down 27%)
🔴 30 new deaths (down 33%)
🟡 207 hospital inpatients (down 26%)
🟠 2 ICU inpatients

So another drop in reported cases!

We're actually averaging under 100 new cases a day now, for the first time since August 2020! Although of course that is largely a result of low testing levels. ImageImageImageImage
The latest wastewater figures show that the levels there are still low (the lowest in nearly two years), although it does look like there has been a slight increase during the first week of May.

This week, Scotland has reported:

🔵 2,694 new cases (up 26%)
🔴 56 new deaths (down 13%)
🟡 1,231 hospital inpatients (up 26%)
🟠 5 ICU inpatients (up 25%)

So quite a large jump in reported cases this week, across most age groups and council areas.

The number of new tests reported also increased again. I wasn't sure if we'd see many more increases like this at this point, with testing access so limited.
Deaths from the virus were thankfully down a little bit this week.

Although excess deaths were unfortunately up, and were 12% above average for this time of the year. That is the highest they've been since the middle of January.

The latest figures from the ONS Infection Survey estimate that 1 in 30 people in Scotland currently has Covid-19, which is down from 1 in 25 last week, and 1 in 19 the week before!

Here are some of the additional figures from the ONS Infection Survey.

Due to the bank holiday weekend, no local data has been included this week.

Over 5,000 new cases were reported in Scotland today, for the first time ever ☹️

Although we did also conduct our most ever tests in a day, and the positivity rate is lower than it was yesterday.

#covid19scotland #coronavirusscotland #DailyCovidUpdate
Lower than yesterday, but still at 11%, which isn't good. Especially when we're reporting over 5,000 new cases to go with it...

Anyways here are some other figures regarding the new cases which were reported today.
And some of the detailed vaccination figures for the day too!

From tomorrow, the weekly figures will be included in these charts again as normal. 😊

Over 4,300 new cases were reported throughout Scotland today, which is the highest we've ever had in a day.

The daily positivity was was also 14.5%, which is the highest since the start of January.

Here are some extra figures on the new cases today and over the past week.

Nearly all of the news cases reported today were from tests conducted on Sunday, and almost half were in people under the age of 25.
And some of the detailed vaccination figures too!

Rothesay currently has the highest case rate in Scotland, reporting 79 new cases in the past week.

That is up significantly from the week before, and means about 2% of the town currently have covid

#covid19scotland #coronavirusscotland #DailyCovidUpdate ImageImageImageImage
Or I should say at least 2% currently have covid..

Also, I've changed around the intermediate zone map (again, sorry!) to now show per capita rates instead of whole numbers.

I think with cases rising again it'll be better to show it this way for now ImageImage
Although I have now added in labels which appear when you zoom in, showing the whole numbers.

These don't necessarily work too well in the cities as there are lots of tiny areas, and they can also make the map a bit slower. So let me know if you don't like them! ImageImageImageImage

Another rise in cases today, with a daily increase of 1,815, which is the highest in close to a month.

The positivity rate of 10.6% is also the highest we've had in a day for over a month.

#covid19scotland #coronavirusscotland #DailyCovidUpdate
Here are some of the detailed vaccination figures too!

A couple of small changes were made to the page too, which I'll mention below!
The first is that the case age trend chart here now shows the total number of cases over the past 7 days, per capita, rather than the average number of daily cases over the past 7 days, per capita.

The trends are still the same, but it just matches the other age chart now!

There were 11 new deaths reported today, which is the highest in a day since the end of March, unfortunately.

Also, I've included a thread below covering some of the figures over the past week! 👇

#covid19scotland #coronavirusscotland #DailyCovidUpdate
First, here are some figures on cases!

These are still falling, thankfully, which is good to see.

There have been some particularly rapid drops in the 20-24 age range, although the two oldest age ranges have actually been increasing a bit over the past week.
At a local level cases are now falling everywhere, other than in Moray and the three Island/Isle council areas.

Although those four areas have had the lowest rates over the past month anyways, so I guess they're more subject to an increase like this.

Nearly all of Scotland is now seeing a decline in their case numbers in comparison to last week!

It is just Inverclyde, Moray, Shetland, Orkney, and the Western Isles which are seeing an increase.

#covid19scotland #coronavirusscotland #DailyCovidUpdate
Although Inverclyde's numbers are slowing down, and they should be declining within the next couple of days.

The other areas seeing an increase have the lowest case rates, so they are more subject to percentage increases like that.
Anyways here are the detailed vaccination figures too!

Another low day today, sadly. Especially for first doses

3,799 new cases reported today, which takes Scotland over the 300,000 mark for the entire pandemic.

Also I've included a thread below covering some of the Scottish figures from the past week! 👇

#covid19scotland #coronavirusscotland #DailyCovidUpdate
Firstly cases, which appear to be peaking right now!

Still early days of course, but it will be nice if this is the case. We should probably give it to the end of the week to be sure though.
If you were wondering how those 300,000 cases stack up against similar sized countries, then here is this. (Although these are yesterdays figures, and they don't take testing differences into account!)
