More seriously, want to know why more absentee ballots were accepted? Because the @staceyabrams campaign and @GeorgiaDemocrat had an army of volunteers answering a #VoterHotline for tens of thousands of voters calling and asking questions, and notifying voters /1
Whose ballots had been rejected that they needed to reapply. More absentee ballots were accepted because @ACLUofGA and @CoalitionGoodGv filed suit to stop them from being rejected. @GeorgiaDemocrat sued to extend deadlines so the state would #CountEveryVote. /2

ES&S FACTS: 1-@govkemp's Exec Counsel participated in a nat'l pay-for-play scheme w/ ES&S 2-Kemp’s Deputy COS was on ES&S payroll as a lobbyist in 2018 3-ES&S has engaged in egregious election security malpractice for YEARS 4-Yet Kemp may reward ES&S with a $150M contract THREAD
ES&S can’t be trusted w/ the single largest taxpayer purchase of voting machines in US history. Not when ES&S machines have been DIRECTLY TIED to significant undervotes in GA/FL/TX/AZ/PA/NC. Not when their machines are still rife w/ security problems in 2018!
ES&S has acted in bad faith:
-Refused to tell federal lawmakers wh/ states were sold critically flawed machines
-Violated Indiana law & lied to election officials in 2018 to hide software issues that led to long lines
-Sued WI to stop public disclosure of 2016 audit results

.@govkemp's leadership in the General Assembly is asking Georgians to take a giant leap of faith on a for-profit company with a history of producing insecure and unreliable machines — the same company that paid @GovKemp's deputy chief of staff big bucks as a lobbyist. 1/3
After OVER 100K machine votes vanished in Nov it’s clear that NOTHING short of hand-marked paper ballots will provide the security that voters deserve. This bill ignores not only the recs of security experts but also the will of Georgians, who want hand-marked paper ballots 2/3
There is only one reason why leaders in the General Assembly would promote a less secure and less reliable method of voting: because they would rather pad the pockets of a failed machine company than do right by the voters of Georgia 3/3 @fairfightaction #counteveryvote #gapol

Georgia has a democracy crisis. The public and leaders in all sectors must demand reform so that our elections system is truly free and fair for all citizens. Today in GA there are TWO active election contest suits that question the validity and seek a redo on 2018 elections:
1. GOP State Rep Gasaway in N GA, who would get a 2nd do-over given abnormalities and 2. the race for Lt Gov where there is a freakishly abnormal “drop off”-- 100,000 missing votes in that race. Once unusual, both contest suits see cracks in the foundation of our system.
One is an R who is fighting on his own & one is brought by progressives, they both show our 16 year old paperless, insecure voting machines & our elections system overall is so flawed that it cannot be trusted to be delivering the will of the people. This is a bipartisan outrage.

So all of us in the #resistance are giving ourselves a big pat on the back for the #BlueWave. After all, we took 40 seats and soon @TeamPelosi will be House Speaker

Great job! We think. After two long years we can finally take it easy.

NOT. SO. FAST.

<Thread>
Yes, it was wonderful to see those Democratic candidates win. And nice to see our effort rewarded.

With control of the House, we now have a Constitutional check on the president PLUS we control more governorships and state legislatures

But there’s still a TON of work to do.
As the past few days have shown, we still have a corrupt president: compromised by Russia, beholden to Saudi Arabia, unwilling to acknowledge basic facts about climate change and seemingly unconcerned about the sanctity of human life.

The recount for Carolyn Bourdeaux, running for U.S. Congress GA-07 against incumbent Rob Woodall is set to start today at 10am.

Under state law, there is supposed to be a recount when the margin of victory is less than 1%.

Woodall—139,837
Bourdeaux—138,936
Total votes=278,773
As per the certified results filed Saturday, Woodall's margin is .14% or 419 votes.

Bourdeaux is asking that the recount take place in a "fair and transparent manner." For one thing, per #Georgia law, election observers are required to stand behind glass.
👉Bourdeaux is asking for a hand recount & normal observation practices of the 20,000 votes that were paper ballots: absentee ballots and provisional ballots.

💥Bourdeaux noted that the absentee ballots were folded in half: & her name was in the crease, which could cause errors.

As many of us have surmised over the last 15-20 years, Republicans rig elections if they run the election infrastructure & feel it necessary to retain power (vote will be close). That's why GA & FL want to hide their methodologies. #CountEveryVote.
A big part of my point: Why is @FLGovScott wanting to sequester voting machines in 2 counties & not the others?? "Accuse the other side of that which you are guilty"- Goebbels. It takes attention away from the other 65 counties where Republicans may have rigged counts.
The Art of Election Fraud ―
Create an election ballot signature law & then @FLGovScott’s people can decide which ballots have fraudulent signatures. It’s called legislating rapacious caprice. The Republican way. How about #CountEveryVote instead??

✅Check this out! #Maine’s race for 2nd Congressional District will be decided by ranked voting because no candidate has 50% of the vote yet.

🔥But incumbent Bruce Poliquin & the GOP are making similar claims to #Florida Governor Rick Scott: that the SOS “mishandled ballots.”
#Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap criticized Poliquin’s campaign, saying those comments could lead to voters losing confidence in the voting system.

Ranked voting results are expected mid-week & #Democrat Jared Golden @golden4congress could win.

sunjournal.com/dunlap-concern…
ℹ️This is explains the ranked voting system. #Maine is the first state to use it.

💥And an Election Day poll said that Jared Golden would get 93% of the independent candidates’ votes.

🗣️People were calling for the resignation of Brian Kemp before the Gubernatorial election that he was in against Stacey Abrams @staceyabrams, started. Kemp was #Georgia's Secretary of State (SOS) until last Thursday 11/8/18 when he resigned.

🛑But—

cnn.com/2018/11/09/opi…
👉Rick Scott is Governor of #Florida until January 9th—so he's Ken Detzner's supervisor until that time. He appointed Ketzner to the SOS post in January 2012.

⁉️With all the controversy surrounding the Florida elections, isn't this a bigger CONFLICT OF INTEREST than Kemp's?
🔥🔥Not only that!🔥🔥

⚖️Rick Scott had to be stopped by a court from doing this▶️between 3 judges' resignations at midnight on 1/8/19 and the next governor's swearing in ceremony at 12 noon on 1/9/19.👇

Folks: Few states count provisional ballots, early ballots, or overseas ballots quickly; usually they do not have to do so because the numbers don't require it... there is a big enough margin for these not to have any effect. In #Florida and #Georgia you have several issues. 1/
@ScottforFlorida has been governor for two terms/8 years. During this time he has underfunded election security and election processes, did not replace Ms. Snipes who he now berates. Why? So he could underfund the election machinery in that county and then blame her for problems?
For @ScottforFlorida to complain now when he is responsible for underfunding election staff, machines, etc is laughable at best, but really a tragedy of democracy. The idea that the second largest county in Florida, underfunded for this purpose, should now pull out miracles,

Andrew Gillum is giving a statement right now that is loaded with integrity and power. He sets our party so far above the GOP. We need this man in Government, no matter what! #SaturdayThoughts #counteveryvote
2/ and he's rescinded his concession. He's a decent, smart, good man. Every member of the GOP should take note.
Sorry that I didn't get the text, I have a 3 yr old with me today. Election meddling, Trump & 4 yr old chaos don't mix well! The little kid makes so much more sense! Gillum made sense, too!

I want to make something very clear: This fight isn't about me. This fight is about making sure our democracy works for & represents everyone who has ever put their faith in it. It’s about fighting for every Georgian who cast a ballot with the promise that their vote would count.
It does not matter if you voted for me or my opponent. Every voter – regardless of party affiliation, race, or region – deserves to have a say in our Georgia. staceyabrams.com/vote #GAGov #gapol
Right now, our campaign is pouring all of our resources into ensuring every ballot cast is a ballot counted. We are not taking our eyes off of this process, even for a moment. staceyabrams.com/vote #CountEveryVote #gapol
