What started off as a spur of the moment tweet has become this phenomenon that has culminated in a demo day event for the first cohort.
From 500+ applications, 15 were selected to pitch to a panel of seasoned judges and finally, 7 were selected to build. For the last 5 days, the 7 startups have undergone mentorship from industry experts and have received benefits from strategic partnerships.
Big thanks to our partners, we are now able to fund the 7 startups with $3,000 each equity free to scale, even though we started out ready to give $1,000 to 5 startups. We are also supporting the teams with hosting space, legal support, publicity, virtual workspace & much more.
The results are in! Congratulations to the following winning teams of the #COVID19InnovationChallenge!
We had a tie and decided to select 7 projects instead of the initial 6. These winners will receive funding, access to mentors and premium services from partners. đ

HEAT MAPPING - product or solution is able to show or give an idea of what areas are most vulnerable on a map and locate infected areas.
Due to the rapid spread of the #Coronavirus pandemic in Africa, we have moved up the initial application closing date for the #COVID19InnovationChallenge to Saturday 21st March, 11:59pm WAT. 1/3
