LIVE with @DrTedros: Launch of the @TheGPMB 3rd report on pandemic preparedness at #WHS2021 twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…
@DrTedros @TheGPMB "The new @TheGPMB report is brave, the kind that could only be produced by veterans in the field. It takes courage & experience to say we do not need new recommendations, because the previous recommendations out there were good ones & they still have not been fulfilled"-@DrTedros
@DrTedros @TheGPMB "Of course, we did not know when the next global crisis would arise, or what it would be. But we knew it would come eventually, and that the world was not ready, and urgent action was needed"-@DrTedros #WHS2021

The next wave of diagnostic testing is for antibodies to #COVID29
Countries already on it or starting: Germany, Netherlands, UK, Singapore, South Korea, China
Country with no plan: US

There are many uncertainties w/ Ab testing:
—Do high levels of IgG protect from reinfection; how long do they persist, do they indicate an individual is incapable of spreading?
—The >20 tests vary w/r to methods, sensitivity, specificity, validation. Data are not transparent 2/x
The scalable tests (we need, massive, cheap quick) can be done in minutes via fingerstick.
Many resemble biopanda.co.uk test (according to @TheEconomist).
The one I did last week was far more comprehensive but may not well suited for mass use
