If you are a worker at significantly greater risk of contracting COVID-19 than the general public, and have evidence of a COVID-19 related illness, you may have an acceptable COVID-19 claim. Having test results at the time you file your claim may speed up claim adjudication (1/2) Image
Due to increased volumes, we will be prioritizing COVID-19 claims for workers experiencing a loss of income which may delay other COVID-related claims. Learn more: ms.spr.ly/6015ZFHqB #COVIDBC (2/2)
Thank you to everyone who's reached out so far with questions about COVID-19 testing. Workers who believe they have contracted COVID-19 through a workplace exposure are encouraged to report a claim to determine eligibility for workers’ compensation benefits. (1/3)

On their #COVID19 policies this gov't likes to say “we follow the science."

But our policies are not based on the raw data, they are based on the values viewed as important by gov't & used to interpret the science.

Today I want to talk about those values. 1/ #bcpoli #COVID19BC
Yesterday the BCCDC updated their guidelines to say that public health is balancing preventing illness and going to work & socializing.

That is the crux of the growing frustration we're seeing. Increasingly the @bcndp are choosing to value work over people. /2 #bcpoli #COVIDBC
This has been done under the guise of ensuring we “rebuild” our economy - and there lies the misunderstanding. @jjhorgan himself said in a not too distant past “People are the economy of BC.” 3/ #bcpoli #COVID19BC

We also need to talk about the pediatric bed situation in #BC.

While all hospital resources are limited, the number of pediatric beds cannot be rapidly increased b/c they need to be staffed by HCWs trained in pediatric care.

A thread.

The pandemic has been in Canada, and B.C., for one year. But today, as a member of the media, was the most disappointing day I think I’ve experienced today covering it #bcpoli #bced #covid19 #COVIDBC #COVID
First, unless I missed it, Dr. Henry didn’t appear. Instead, is was Dr. Gustafson. #bcpoli #bced #covid19 #COVIDBC #COVID
Today’s briefing felt like a 100 per cent scripted show. As variant cases continue to grow, we’re told B.C. has such low numbers but the attitude given off today by officials made it sound like ‘our numbers are low, we’re fine.’ #bcpoli #bced #covid19 #COVIDBC #COVID

One might ask where BC's mainstream media is on this? #SiteC is the largest project in B.C. by far, yet not a word about the fact that the dam likely won't make this year's deadline to divert the river (necessary to build the dam) & will be delayed another year: $$$$$$$$. #bcpoli
..Please don't try blaming #SiteC delays on the pandemic, BC Hydro/BC govt: you didn't shut #SiteC down for #COVIDbc; these problems long preceded the pandemic; & ongoing problems there are not pandemic related (heavy rains, erosion). #bcpoli @BruceRalston @jjhorgan
@BruceRalston @jjhorgan This #SiteC project is delayed because it's being built in an unstable location (something that becomes more critically obvious the more heavy concrete is poured onto unstable shale). A lack of planning resulting from rushing it 'past the point of no return' is being revealed.

Here’s what the oil & gas industry is putting out as they seek to be the "chosen ones” to lead the post-pandemic economic recovery in Canada/BC. 1/2 energycitizens.ca #bcpoli #cdnpoli #COVIDCanada #covidbc
..With the BC Energy Ministry's brand-new Deputy Minister, Fazil Mihlar of the Fraser Institute, we suspect there will be a push within the BC NDP provincial government to have a substantial part of that recovery money handed over to oil & gas. 2/2 #bcpoli

Hearing from a few folks in #bced classrooms. Sick kids coming to school, exposing staff and students. When Fraser Health/VCH/admin is contacted they find out that if the student tests positive for #COVIDー19, most (if not all) in the school will *not* be told at all. 1/
Staff members already choosing to self isolate from family. Esp where family is vulnerable due to age or health. This is making mental health worse. Trying to wrap my head around the thinking behind not letting staff, families, & students know about confirmed cases in a school 2/
I know privacy is an issue, but "we have a confirmed case in grade 4" is not breaching privacy, and most ppl I talk to are under the impression that contact tracing is for this very purpose...*to inform others if they have been exposed to a confirmed case* 3/
