@Irek_K Saw what you said regarding the Canada Disability Benefit today. Why are the Liberals being so tight-lipped regarding this benefit? You speak about its urgency, but you've yet to reveal details regarding eligibility, amounts, or even a timeline.
Disabled Canadians & Families of those with #pwd cannot afford to wait 3 years for the "consultation" you wanted to do in the 2021 Budget. Has that study even fully started, by the way? You brought up the DIAP again, is that part of the study or a separate thing?
In addition, you mention how this will help "hundreds of thousands". When you have around 40% of 6 MILLION Canadians living with a disability in poverty, hearing that this might go to so few scares me as a Disabled Canadian, despite the fact I'm currently "able" enough to work.

Dear @jwaldag, @Shafqat_Ali_1, @AryaCanada & @JaimeBattiste

This past Friday was the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. It is now the second which has come and gone with no tangible movement towards the promised "#CanadaDisabilityBenefit" while at the same time 1/9
It' the second year in a row that another Party has attempted to pass a Federal #Disability Benefit in which your party has rejected. If you want a short statement about my thoughts then it's simple.. "Shit or get off the pot".

If you want something more eloquent, read on.. 2/9
Now I don't know just how many Disabled people there are who depends on #CPPD, #ODSP, #AISH, #SAID, and all the others without cute 4 letter short forms but I can tell you combined they account for roughly 50% of the homeless..
(at least in Ont..) and the homelessness issue 3/9

We live in so-called subsidized housing in the suburbs. The rent is a bit higher than some but the unit includes, water, heat, and a 40% discount on Internet and TV. It has an elevator, security, and is a certified crime free building. It has a washer and dryer in the bathroom.
It has a 6x12 balcony, nice but over looking a busy 4 lane highway, and noisier than a race track. It modern windows and doors that seal up so well, we can't hear the traffic with them closed.
The water pressure is great, and the water clean. The heat is included and efficient.
The heat is so great that winter time we rarely turn it on, heat just rises. The windows have modern blinds that are included. It is a smoke free building, though people puff away on their balconies. Same with the demon weed. It has two bedrooms. My partner is also disabled.

Dear @cafreeland, let me save you four years, at least a thousand lives and $12,000,000 in 6 tweets or less.

Your going to commit $12,000,000 for discussions on how to include the most people possible and what to provide in a #Canada #disability benefit. It REALLY is #simple 1/6
In fact, it's SO simple that I'm using up extra words in my promised six tweets or less to highlight JUST how easy it is.

YOU'RE going to ask around, maybe get.. 200 or 300 opinions.. 80% will be from organizations. 70% of those will kiss your ass. half of the individuals 2/6
you ask will ask an opinion from, will ask for so much because they've had so little (for SO LONG) you'll discount them anyways. Here is what you need to do and how to do it. The next three tweets are simple. it's "How to do it" and "What to give" 3/6 #PWD #ODSP #SAID #AISH #CPPD

If I read #federalbudget of #Canada Correctly
@cafreeland committed $12M over THREE YEARS to TALKING about how to implement a disability benefit some point in the future (maybe)
(But $13M to ensure MAID happens)

So no #inclusion & #inclusive recovery for #ODSP #CPPD #SAID #AISH
At this rate, with what the provinces are doing to #PWD @JustinTrudeau @cafreeland You won't have to worry about #MAID or a #Disabilities Benefit cause the problem is going to "Solve itself"
They Can't Afford to live NOW Damn it !
3 weeks to invent #CERB
4 YEARS to maybe help PWD
How many more times are they supposed to say
"Maybe next year, people will care"
How many more decades ?
How many more wasted PWD lives because
Canada won't put the well being disabled people equal to those who are "Able" ?

How many more GENERATIONS @JustinTrudeau ?

1. This is a thread for my fellow #Longhaulers who are about to lose access to the #CERB on Saturday. I know some are quite worried about financial supports so this is a look at your options. As you'll see, it's quite a dog's breakfast. #COVID19 #LongCOVID #ApresJ180 #cdnpoli
2. The first stop is Employment Insurance Sickness Benefits. #EI eligibility was frozen in March, so if you were employed or self-employed but paying premiums and had accumulated enough hours for eligibility, you will now transition to EI sickness benefits.
3. It's not clear yet whether a medical note will be required if your illness is due to COVID-19. If it is, it can be signed by a doctor, psychologist, or chiropractor. You do not need a diagnosis to get a note (although you do need a sympathetic health care provider).
