My observations on @AGRobBonta's first major #CCPA enforcement action, announced today against @Sephora - big news for U.S. privacy. 1/16

First, @Sephora is a strategic choice. The most significant outcome is their 2-yr agreement to honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. It's very important for the AG to get this on the books, because it bolsters CCPA's key (only) redeeming feature: the universal opt-out. 2/

1/24 My second big win in court against a charter school corporation. It was also a major victory over their #CCSA trade association, which tried to use this case to carve out immunity to the #CPRA. I represented @DotKohlhaas in this action. @DianeRavitch
2/24 My first win was a year ago as third chair in a suit to overturn a wrongful expulsion of a student of color. The PUC charter chain (of convicted felon Ref Rodriguez fame) violated that student's due process rights. Violated isn't a strong enough word for what they did.

A7 CISOs should review the list of elements included in this new class, confer with the organization’s privacy leader, and determine what, if any, new controls need to be added. --Scott

What/who is Luminex?
2/ In this #tweetorial, we'll answer 3Qs that help us assess a #kidneytransplant recipient's immunological risk:

1. Does this recipient have #DSA* (against HLA-antigens) ?
2. Can the antibodies bind?
3. Can the antibodies activate complement?

*DSA: donor specific antibodies
3/ Q1: How do know if the recipient's serum contains DSA against HLA-antigens?

A1: #Luminex testing, a solid-phase (BEAD) based assay. To perform the test, take the recipient's serum and pipette it into multiple wells - each well has beads coated with #HLA antigens...
