#crbox designed for travel. Packs into a suitcase with room for clothes and gives (estimated) 200-350 cfm cadr (raw is 632 cfm) Assembles and packs in < 5 mins. No tape. At 350 cfm it’s loud. But can easily turn down. Can be powered by 12v usbc. Assembly video next

As we enter a phase of folks making mini DIY CRBoxes with stacked series fans, it would be nice to get some clarity on performance. The primary source used for putting spacers in-between for “performance” is one Noctua white paper, with one sentence about it and zero metrics: 🧵
It’s not a great sentence. “Directly towards each other” implies opposition, yet why would anyone do that, prob just bad writing. “Reduced aero-acoustical performance” is very vague, and possibly only about sound level. @DavidElfstrom is there a better resource for this info?
Of course we want the best performance we can get. But adding spacers makes a mini not so mini, so it has to be truly justifiable. If there’s no CFM difference I wouldn’t do it. Noctua are the quietest fans so they might be focused on noise primarily. @JimRosenthal4 @robwiss

Some stills. It’s so quiet, 41db, I don’t even hear it above the ringing in my ears from blasting Dua. The warm white LEDs throw a ton of light; it’s also dimmable via hand wave
The No COVID Fandelier 2!
Smaller bottom filter aim fans 45° down so they light the table not the wall. More chandelier-like. Square, so good for sq/round tables. Figured out “warm white” which is nice.

Fresh #crbuild @robwiss mega-sandwich style. 2x @3m Filtrete 14x30, 12 (new record?) fans total, 6 Asiahorse s001 on top and 2x Matrix 360 3-fan units for the sides. 660cfm raw. 2 controllers for visual fx, overkill. Finally you can eat without worries 😄#crbox #corsirosenthalbox
Some stills. I will try and post a complete parts list but I’d like to simplify it first, this was made from a bunch of stuff I had rather than tuned for ease of build
567 CADR, theoretical. 41db 1m from the filter face, 45db 1m out from the fan. Pretty quiet, quieter than 9 fan AL Panel because it has 3 more fans but double the filter surface area. Much less resistance so fans run quieter, more cadr.

My biggest Air and Light Panel, or AL Panel, in the style of CR Box natch. A mere 1.9” thick! 9 white RGB fans taped to a filtrete 14x14x1 merv 13. Fans are rated 495cfm on max, CADR unknown. No floorspace nec; hang it on the wall, tilted enough for good airflow. #ALPanel #CRBox
Now I’m sucking through the filter, but these fans we part of my previous CR Box that was pushing through the filters. Took a long time to clean the fans, can’t recommend pushing! Get the air cleaned before hitting the fans, always, even if it looks worse
In horizontal position it has a pretty sci-fi vibe. Reactor core / space ship vibez.

I think there are a few of us who want a small #CRbox that would fit in an airplane carryon for a hotel.
Here's a recent attempt.
It's small (8" by 8" by 8")! And can pack up very small. But it's loud.

(Hint to Manufacturers: Price... $199-249, variable CADR rate 100 (<= 45 db @ 1meter) - 300 (<= 65 db @ 1meter), easily packs into "flat-ish" a 5-7L volume <= 10" on a side, assembly less than 3 minutes. ... oh, I can dream!)

This is how I get battery power for my RGB CR Box builds. I’ve pinned it to the top of my profile because it’s used in all of them. This design allows for 7.5 watts of Fan and 7.5w of RGB, using USB-A. I have a more powerful USB-C design that allows for 36w fans and 15w rgb
