Though LCC started around 1900, major libraries took time to move over to the "new" system. By 1927 @ALALibrary knew they needed to figure out what was happening, and commissioned Margaret Mann to research and write a book on the use and classification of books in LCC.

THREAD Why I as a medical library director will never require or consider AHIP credentialing in hiring or promotion #medlibs
First, I do think evidence of continuing ed, service, research, publication, etc can be valuable and a factor in choosing the right librarian for the role.
What I don’t buy into is AHIP as a gatekeeper for hiring or advancement. All those activities above can be on the CV.
