Image

August 9, 1928 | Samuel Beller, a Polish Jew, was born in Oświęcim.

In April 1944, he was deported to #Auschwitz. His entire family was murdered. Samuel survived.

Today is his 94th birthday. Please join us in celebrating Sam today! Image
Samuel Beller was born in Oświęcim, Poland. He recalls the anxious feeling the Jews of his town felt weeks before the invasion of Poland by the Nazis: the fiery, red-painted sky, an indication that something terrible was on the horizon. He was right.
On September 1, 1939, the Nazis invaded. The town he grew up in would be the home of the infamous Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp.

1/ @michaelpollan's highly-expected @netflix series #HowToChangeYourMind just premiered! 📺🍄 Despite near-universal praise, #HTCYM is rife with errors & borders on historical revisionism 🤥

A critique 🤔🧵 #LSD #MDMA #Peyote #Mescaline #Psilocybin #Mushrooms #Psychedelic @MAPS
2/ Before I get started, I'll give everyone a little bit of background information. @michaelpollan released a non-fiction work entitled "How to Change Your Mind" in May of 2018. Before the end of that year, his book about #psychedelic drugs became a @nytimes bestseller. Image
3/ @michaelpollan achieved massive coverage for this self-described "mental travelogue" of his #psychedelic experiences. Soon enough, Mr. Pollan became a prominent figure w/in the so-called "Psychedelic Renaissance". In the process, he gained a rather interesting reputation. Image

1/ 75 years ago today, US forces liberated #Dachau concentration camp. My maternal grandfather #DavidMaxEichhorn, a Jewish Chaplain, was there. I will spend next week documenting from contemporaneous reports what he saw & did.

2/Time Magazine reporter Sidney Olsen (1908-1995) was with US troops at liberation. Olson’s account of the horrific conditions at #Dachau was part of the most graphic coverage of the war to date. His family hopes to turn his writings into a book.

3/Some info on my grandfather. Born in 1906 in Columbia, PA. His parents were both emigrees from Germany who came to US in 1890s. Ordained as Rabbi from Hebrew Union College (@HUCJIR) in 1931. Went to MA & then AR.

His maternal uncle was killed by Nazis in #Dachau.

Today marks 75 years since the liberation of the first Nazi concentration camp, Dachau, by US forces in the closing days of World War Two. #Dachau #Dachau75 #OTD #NeverAgain
Prior to the liberation of Dachau, Soviet troops had discovered extermination and concentration camps as early as mid-1944. British and Canadian forces entered Bergen-Belsen, in Saxony, and liberated it on the 15th of April 1945.
Dachau is significant, as I've noted in the video, as it was established just days after Hitler took power. Almost immediately, prominent socialists, dissidents and 'asocials' were rounded up for 'Schutzhaft' or 'protective custody'.

#29APRILE 1945

Homicide always requires a certain hubris: a pride that vaunts the "wants" or "needs" of the killer over the life of the killed.

That hubris is now on display with a posting from "Auntie Lynn."
That posting directs itself to the women of Georgia (and other States adopting "#heartbeat" #abortion restrictions).

The posting pretends to be an invitational note from an old Auntie who lives in New York. Well, no, it is an invitation so it isn't a pretense in that respect.
The pretense is that it comes from one's Aunt rather than from folks involved in #murdering #uterine #children for hire. Auntie Lynn wants poor repressed mothers in #Georgia and elsewhere to know that #abortions will still be available to them in #NewYork.
