It would be really handy if the government could publish a technical explanation about how they are calculating proximity from the limited data they collect (TX power and RSSI intervals) that is superior to what Apple/Googleās framework does. #NHSX #DailyBriefing

Slight correction - whilst the app only captures RSSI data, IIRC, when you report symptoms and this file is uploaded to the server, I think it also captures some information about your device (OS/device model) which could feed in to their algorithm too.
Letās see if the app gets a mention during Hancockās half hour and if so, how they spin it.

It was obvious many weeks ago that the govt's approach to its contact tracing app was deeply flawed. I set out the reasons why in this thread on 3 May.

What this story tells us is what we maybe knew all along - the #dailybriefings have become a charade and we are so far from "following the science" now that perhaps we need to re-think the daily spin session they've become?

I understood at that time that in order to move from 'current social distancing measures and restrictions', the Joint Biosecurity Centre had to change the COVID Alert Level to Level 3 - and that changes were dependent on this.
I understand that we are still at COVID Alert Level 4. My question is: how does the PM justify the change to 'gradual releasing of restrictions' such as opening schools when the Joint Biosecurity Centre has not moved to Alert Level 3? Is this overruling the JBC? @instituteforgov
