[Thread] The NTA have published new drawings for the #BusConnects Core Bus Corridors. This project aims to deliver 200km of cycle track and 230km of bus lanes in Dublin.

Let's have a deeper look at corridors 6-12 on the south west side of the city.
Let's start with #BusConnects Core Bus Corridor (CBC) 6 from Lucan to Heuston Station. This route follows the N4/Chapelizod Bypass to the Liffey.

There are some big improvements for cycling along this route.

The biggest change from a cycling point of view is that the National Transport Authority (NTA) are proposing a two-way cycle track along the north side of the N4 by Hermitage Golf Course.

This was a @dublincycling request to keep people away from heavy traffic.

This is brand new cycle infrastructure in @dlrcc built to the standards of the NTA’s National Cycle Manual. The manual is flawed. It requires too much painted cycle lane and the limited number of places there are curbs they are small and ineffective. #DeathByDesign
@dlrcc Here's footage of the painted cycle lanes at this junction being ignored. Driving in a mandatory cycle lane is dangerous and illegal.
Here's footage of drivers mounting the tiny segregated curbs that the NTA National Cycle Manual uses. The cycle lane is effectively used as extra left turn space for drivers:
