Meet Jason Nixon - another confirmed UCP liar, pretends to care about the environment, and terrible MLA and Minister.
A thread on why @JasonNixonAB is unfit as an elected official, and an absolute disgrace to this province and country

Let's start with his recent lie, about off-Highway vehicle fees: Nixon & the UCP promised (I know, a UCP promise is worthless) to implement a $30 OHV fee with the $$ to go to conservation and repair in areas like McLean creek in Kananaskis. If you are paying attention, the UCP Image
implemented the K-Pass, a $90/year or $15/day pass to access the park for all users (hikers, bikers, equestrian) EXCEPT, OHV users. The pass is touted as a means to improve K-Country (garbage, damage, infrastructure, etc) and yet, areas like McLean that see massive damage by OHV Image

Jason Kenney’s vaccine lottery prizes now include free access to enjoy and explore Kananaskis Country, an area that used to be free to access before the UCP formed government.

In a news release Wednesday, the Government of Alberta added 10 free $90 Kananaskis Conservation Passes to a second vaccine lottery prize pool, requiring Albertans to re-submit their entry.
Environment Minister Jason Nixon only introduced the pass a few weeks ago, and it came into effect June 1.

Here’s a quick thread on the rally to oppose the open pit coal mining that threatens to pollute the water on the Eastern slopes.

I arrived at the reconciliation bridge proud to see how many people came out today.

Quick acknowledgement: I would not have learned about this rally to support @NiitsitapiWater without @N8V_Calgarian amplifying their voice on twitter.

Marching through Calgary’s business district.

OK #ableg #mountainsnotmines #defendabparks I read up on the Ram Coal Corp leases near Nordegg.

Another thread on one of many coal companies aiming to set up shop in Alberta, putting our mountains, water, and nature at risk.

Today's focus: Water 1/10

⏬🚨⏬THREAD ⏬🚨⏬
Here's a map of Ram Coal Corp's leases and their "Aries" project. All on former cat 2 land where open pit coal mining would have been prevented by the now rescinded 1976 coal policy

200+ sq km of leased land for coal exploration, only 15km from the N. Sask river. 🏞️

Remember @albertandp plan to protect the Bighorn Wilderness that the UCP were angry about and scrapped?

"There was a tremendous amount of economic concerns and questions that were not answered." - Jason Nixon

Economic concerns like....coal mines?🧐

Thanks for tagging me, @BartMLL.

I basically never use FB, but I'm on my (very old) laptop today.

Let's get some screen shots.
"Today I decided to head up the Oldman to see what the coal companies have been getting up to. I forgot, however, that the forestry trunk road is closed at Dutch Creek each winter, ostensibly for wildlife protection. So I parked at the locked gate and started hiking."

"Newly gouged test pit for coal wayyyy up on the mountain ridge. Note coal dust deposited downwind on the snow."

'This whole thing STINKS' - Mayor Craig Snodgrass from the @TownOfHighRiver talking about the @UCPCaucus decision to recisnd the 1976 coal policy without consultation with #Albertans last night in council meeting.

Thread!
#WaterNotCoal #StopGrassyMountain #ableg #UCPcorruption
He also discussed the lack of transparency, environmental concerns, royalties, etc. The council then unanimously voted to send a letter to @jkenney requesting the IMMEDIATE reinstatement of the coal policy and which was rescinded on June 1 , 2020.
Further more, requesting that the Government Of Alberta
begin public consultation with Indigenous groups, Environmental Groups and all Albertans on any proposed revisions or replacement of this policy.
THANK YOU Mayor and council of @TownOfHighRiver!
