When @HUDgov proposed changes to gut “Disparate Impact,” that’s been a civil rights enforcement tool since SCOTUS adopted it in fair employment context in 1971, more than 45,000 comments by individuals, groups & companies were filed. That’s simply unprecedented for a legal tool.
In more surprising development, lenders & industry trade groups urged @HUDgov to not change disparate impact rule. They cited "national reckoning on race" & said it was wrong time to roll back civil rights protections. Let's be clear--this never happens. wapo.st/2GtxEwZ

It would not be unprecedented nor unexpected given that Utah is also one of few states that grants driver's licenses and in-state tuition to undocumented immigrants. (I'm originally from Chicago and am intrigued by the pro-immigrant and pro-refugee policies Utah has enacted.) /3
