A pathway to citizenship for minors brought to the US as children has consistently been at least as popular in voter polling as legalizing marijuana. Again and again for 2 decades, Rs have consistently blocked, filibustered, and refused to allow it to the floor for an honest vote
Never forget that #DACA was not some radical act of Obama's executive whim, but a product of genuine frustration from a broken system's failure to protect a population which more than 2/3 of Americans rightfully understand is #HereToStay. Image

Today’s Supreme Court decision blocking the Trump administration’s attempt to tear apart immigrant families is wonderful news. We celebrate with the thousands of DACA recipients who are #HereToStay! lambdalegal.org/blog/20200618_…
Immigrants are a part of every community, including the LGBTQ community, and we will continue to resist the racist and xenophobic immigration policies of this administration.

The work continues.
~75,000 LGBTQ immigrants are eligible for DACA. Thousands of LGBTQ immigrants have lived, worked, studied and contributed to our country.

Deportation would mean, for many, harassment, violence, or criminalization resulting in imprisonment or death.

This decision saves lives.

Last week our new BYU Latino Civil Rights seminar met Diana Trochez, DACA recipient, @BYULawSchool grad, and immigration attorney practicing law in California, which is one of a very few states to allow undocumented immigrants to take the bar exam. Diana is one of two 1/
Diana Trochez is one of two plaintiffs to file a potentially historic petition with the Utah Supreme Court to allow DACA law degree holders to be admitted to the Utah state bar and practice law, joining only CA, CT, FL, NJ, and NY. /2
It would not be unprecedented nor unexpected given that Utah is also one of few states that grants driver's licenses and in-state tuition to undocumented immigrants. (I'm originally from Chicago and am intrigued by the pro-immigrant and pro-refugee policies Utah has enacted.) /3

On January 21, 2017, we organized the largest single-day protest in US history. We came together as women, femmes, and allies to speak out, and we set the stage for the resistance movement that continues today.

YOU did this. YOU made this happen.

On January 28, 2017—just one week after the first Women’s March—we flooded airports nationwide to protest the Muslim Ban.

Women who marched together went to airports together. People who met at women’s marches came together again to say #NoMuslimBan.

On January 31, 2017—just 10 days after the March—we went back to DC to voice our outrage of the nomination of Jeff Sessions. We continued our call to #StopSessions for over one year after that.

HEADS UP: Here are 10 things I’ll bet you didn’t know about the GOP tax scam, but that should get you super angry when you find out:
1) GOP tax scam cuts Medicare! Yup, it does. By $28 billion NEXT YEAR alone.
2) GOP tax scam eliminates the tax credit that encourages businesses to hire VETERANS, especially veterans with disabilities. Not a joke.

As a child of first-generation immigrants, I have experienced the wonder of the American dream firsthand.
As a mother, I want all children to have the opportunities this country provides to my daughter.
