Trump is right. Democrats would absolutely try to fill the seat, and it's silly to pretend otherwise. And Republicans would equally complain about the process. The voters had their say when they voted in 2016 and 2018. #Debate2020
Trump is also correct that Biden has no idea what will happen on abortion with SCOTUS or how Barrett will rule. Suggesting millions will lose their health insurance is just fear-mongering. #Debate2020
Forgetting Trump's trolling, it's indefensible that Biden won't take a position now on an idea (packing the courts) being actively promoted by leaders within his own party. #Debates2020

There's a global pandemic brewing. Every scientist whose "lab" isn't a church or an ATM agrees we're killing the earth. I'm pretty sure some of those foreign kids we didn't lose or let die are still in cages. We have the least qualified people doing our most important jobs.

Not one person in my whole state is educated enough to figure out a f#<king traffic circle. Our impeached pathologically lying president is on yet another taxpayer funded business trip to meet a person whose name he can't pronounce in a country he can't find on a map...

...and the 6.5 people trying to replace him are holding a weekly game show to see whose detached pandering scripted zingers will go viral.

Spoiler alert: everyone loses.

What a world.

Just want to put this in context again: $1.7 TRILLION in wealth was wiped out in the stock market since Sunday. $1,700 billion. In 2 days. #DemDebate
I'm not feeling the fire from Warren tonight. Really taking it to Bernie with feather gloves.

Is that an expression?
Pete is smart. His suggestion that we need a president who LOWERS the collective blood pressure of America is dead on. #Biden2020 #DemDebate2020

It only took 1 question for #Bloomberg to bring up #RussianInterference on behalf of #Bernie -to his credit he once again vehemently condemned it #DemDebate2020 #DemDebate Image
Pretty clear early on that #BernieSanders isn’t gonna get away from this debate unscathed, like virtually every #DemDebate before this one #DemDebate2020 Image
Joe Biden hits Bernie on his record on guns, invoking Mother Emmanuel church shooting. The first time he’s being challenged on that in a serious way #DemDebate2020 #DemDebate Image

It's just minutes away from tonight's #DemDebate.

We'll be livetweeting all the proceedings as they unfold, so stick around with us!
Sanders: 'The economy is doing really great for people like Mr. Bloomberg & other billionaires...for the ordinary American, things are not so good.' #DemDebate
Sanders: '500,000 people are sleeping out on the street tonight, including 30,000 veterans.' #DemDebate

1. Since Bernie has put this out here, I do hope there are some probing questions in tonight's #DemDebate2020 in #SouthCarolina. I'm going to use this thread to try to dig into the details of his funding plan without getting too wonky.
2. He starts off with his $2.2 Trillion plan to cancel student debt. He plans to pay for it with a Wall St. speculation tax estimated to raise $2.4 Trillion over 10 years. It does seem like a plausible funding stream and he cites an abstract: tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.108…
3. It works by placing a 0.5 percent tax on stock trades – 50 cents on every $100 of stock – a 0.1 percent fee on bond trades, and a 0.005 percent fee on derivative trades. Researchers suggest it could raise $220 Billion/yr.

Bloomberg’s probably gonna take shots from everyone tonight. But who’s gonna take shots at Bernie? He’s the front runner right now, in case everyone forgot #DemDebates #NexstarDC Image
Damn. GAUNTLET DROPPED right out the gate from Elizabeth Warren. Harshest words in any debate so far #DemDebates #NexstarDC
Mayor Pete also came out fired up. Strategy is clearly to paint himself as the middle ground between socialist #Bernie and republican (#Bloomberg). He also answers my question -he’s obviously going at Bernie early/often #NexstarDC Image

1. I'm just catching on up last night's #DemDebate2020 in New Hampshire and I have to say that I was very happy to hear @BernieSanders say that his views have shifted in favor of tougher gun laws over the years
@BernieSanders 2. @BernieSanders argued that as a senator, he represented the views of a rural state, one that has historical avoided gun regulations.

(I'd argue that b/c of weak gun laws VT has some of the highest rates of gun deaths in New England, particularly suicides & domestic violence)
@BernieSanders 3. @BernieSanders admitted his views on guns have evolved from representing a small rural constituency & that as a president, he'll represent all of us and fight for tougher gun laws.

Bernie wasn't as direct about this evolution in 2016 & I'm glad that he is now.

1. Based on the #DemocraticDebate2020 the dems are in bad shape. The level of contempt for their most loyal base (Black Americans) is going to be the reason why Trump is re-elected. They think we are bulls**ting about our reparations, and we are NOT. (cont)
2. The benign neglect policy that the democrats have used to undermine Black Americans for the last 50 years will no longer be tolerated. If Black Americans do NOT get reparations, we simply won't vote for them. What the hell do we have to lose NOT voting for them? #DemDebate2020
3. Not only are the #DemDebate2020 ignoring Black issues, they are actually prioritizing policies that are extremely detrimental to Black Americans. The main two are immigration & white LGBT issues (cont)

Good evening! I will begin live-tweeting the #DemDebate2020 at 9PM ET for @CourthouseNews but in the meantime, let's go over some policy points for each of tonight's contenders.
Tonight’s candidates on the debate stage are: @JoeBiden, @BernieSanders, @KamalaHarris, @PeteButtigieg, @MichaelBennet, @SenGillibrand (Kirsten Gillibrand), John @Hickenlooper, @ericswalwell, @Marwilliamson (Marianne Williamson) and @Andrew Yang.
But first, we'll revisit rules quickly: recall, candidates have 60 seconds to respond, 30 seconds for follow-ups. There will be no opening remarks to save time but closing remarks will be delivered by each.
