First 5 minutes, and this college clearly never had a #POSH training because a student has plopped into a professor's lap and the professor is telling the girls they'll clear the exams
And of course the #electricguitar is connected to

"What's wrong with this BS?"

If you are #depressed, you are living in the past
If you are #anxious, you are living in the future
If you are at peace, you are living in the present
- Lao Tzu

WRONG! But good for teaching.

(quick trigger warning)

This is intended to be educational re: depression & anxiety. It mentions concepts that can be difficult to read about suicide, trauma, and depression. If you're not in a place to read it now, come back later :)

A psych mini-tweetorial and a bit more #philosophy, but this is important in #medicine and #psychiatry.

Ultimately, I hope it'll be obvious that this quote is simplifying, stigmatizing, and harmful. It's classic pseudo-profound bullshit.

With all this abortion debating there is something blatantly left out of the conversation and I’m going to inject it. There is a true long lasting devastating effect from abortion that impacts women and men.

Ask @IamStevenT

It’s mind boggling to me that we’ve become this blood thirsty? What’s happening here? Really - this is a horrific fact that the US performs more abortions AS IT IS than any other country. This is a sickness straight from the #PitOfHell
And each law set forth like what @NYGovCuomo did and celebrated is setting up a whole generation of people that will be suffering from PTSD because murder is becoming legal.

1/ Thread: New study forthcoming on whether #gene-testing can help guide #antidepressant selection for #depressed patients who have failed to respond to 1 or (on average) 3-4 trials of medication. bit.ly/2LQU75I I have been skeptical: mostly, scant added value…
2/ & I found the reporting of this study annoying. On the primary endpoint, improvement in average #depression rating scores, the gene-testing failed. Patients whose MDs chose new meds w/o help of gene tests did just as well—& yet news reports suggested that tests can help…
3/ That's because the gene testing led to a choice of new meds that led to significantly more remissions (patient no longer depressed) and responses (halving of symptom burden). In general, in drug trials, response/remission shows antidepressants to better effect…

Thread: I’ve long been a mildly depressed person. I sought help once and they told me I had PTSD.

That didn’t work so 20 years later I went to my PCP because I wanted to stop feeling stuck, he gave me Zoloft.

What follows is a thread of the positive life changes I’ve noticed
First: This wasn’t something I expected at all, but I’ve long been the “omg my grandmother died” type when doing oral presentations in front of groups.

...and I’m forced to do biweekly new hire orientation at my company.

About a month ago I started to enjoy it and excel at it.
2: I’ve noticed that my sweet tooth is almost dead. I still have bad habits but if I say “I want 3 Reese’s cups...I eat 3 instead of the whole bag”

Likewise, I’ve stopped snacking at work, or going for seconds at dinner.

A Thread for Men: When your #woman is #emotional, #crying or #stressed out, do not hold it against her. One of the lies of #feminism is that men and women are the same, including that we should process #emotions the same way. Reject the lie. Listen and learn in the posts below.
#Women have much greater #hormonal fluctuations each month than #men do. Simply put, a woman's thought life and #emotions are more prone to high highs, and low lows. This isn't a "design flaw" but rather how #God made a #woman to be in touch with the needs of small #children.
Nothing is more short-sighted as a #man than viewing a #woman as an "overly emotional" or "flawed" version of a man's thought process or #emotions. A woman that does not let her emotions out will become very #passiveaggressive, #depressed or #angry. Your job is to be an #outlet.
