I thought I would never run another in-person event again.

But I was wrong.

Here's why you should get out of your pyjamas and go to an actual in-person event:
After DFTB20 was postponed due to COVID, it was a financial millstone around our necks.

I started to believe we could get everything we needed online.

We shouldn't bother with the risk of in-person events any more.

I was mistaken.
I spent last week hanging out with my tribe at #DFTB22.

Seeing our community face-to-face was a thing of beauty.

I now feel:

• Connected
• Energised
• Inspired

@vickiwade9 talking about the stolen generation, “half-caste and quadroon children”, and whites choosing their favourite-looking child (most fair-skinned) from a group photo (but including a note that if that one was taken by someone else, a different one will be okay). 😳😔
Treat the patient, treat the environment they’re in.

@vickiwade9 gives the example of a kid who had 3-4 open heart surgeries, but each time returned to the same poor housing conditions.

Just like her medical role, Clare recognises she’s not the best musician. But she can help others shine.

Clare’s approach to medicine is similar to music. She can play almost any instrument to about Grade 2 standard. 😂

Online information sometimes questionable, frustrating…

How do we communicate science?
Misinformation rarely comes with a warning label!
