1/ I read one of the saddest things ever this week; a #Gransnet thread on #dieting. These were women of mature years at the end of their tether with restrictive eating yet seemingly powerless to stop themselves. Imagine being in your 60s, terrified of food.
2/ The though of simply NOT dieting, allowing yourself the sensual pleasure of food in the latter decades of your life, just didn’t occur to them. I honestly didn’t think that anyone on their deathbed would think “I wish I’d eaten less”, but I suspect they will.
3/ The thing about doing things that you’re told will ‘extend’ your life is that you only get that extra time at the very end. Imagine your non-weight bearing, slim frame sitting in your own piss and denying yourself a chocolate biscuit. Fucking tragic.

2/ If you're a #primarycare provider trying to help patients lose weight, a #nutritionist trying to get someone to stick to a healthy #diet, or simply trying to eat better yourself: Do you ever feel frustrated, helpless or like a failure in changing #habits?

For years you’ve been told that willpower is the 🔑 to breaking bad habits… but what if I told you that science says otherwise?
