Hoy es el #DNADay, y por tanto me gustaría hablar un poquitín sobre el descubrimiento clave que ha revolucionado la forma en que entendemos la vida, y que se publicó este día en 1953. Sí, hoy toca hablar de esta famosa fotografía, la Photo 51. 
Esta foto la realizaron la pionera en cristalografía de rayos X Rosalind Franklin y su estudiante Raymond Gosling en Mayo de 1952. En ella se puede ver un patrón de difracción muy claro en forma de X. Pero qué significaba esto?
Pues basándose en estructuras simuladas, Franklin y Wilkins (del que hablaremos luego) pudieron describir no solo la estructura de hélice (gracias a la refracción en Cruz Maltersa), sino que esta era dóble (gracias a que faltaba la cuarta línea de difracción).

In 1961, the Greek government, through the @GreeceInUSA ambassador, presented a Tree of Hippocrates sapling to NLM. The sapling was planted next to the new building in May 1962, thriving for more than 50 years. @historyatnih

aDNA is the🧬that persists in ancient tissues like 🦷🦴💀, or the remains of 🦌🌿🐀🐚. It can inform us about evolution, ancient diversity & health. But bc of its age, aDNA is degraded and easily contaminated so we must handle it using lots of PPE, like this! 2/ #DecolonizeDNA
