Unlike other #dnd settings, in Ghostwalk, the afterlife is a physical place beneath the earth. Most spirits travel directly there, but humanoid souls can endure as ghosts. The city of Manifest was built atop the entrance to the land of the dead, where ghosts can, well, manifest!
It's common knowledge that the dead linger in Manifest, so agreements are often made to meet there if a person dies.
Ex. A woman hides a treasure, telling friends on her deathbed that she'll reveal its location to the first person to find her ghost. LET THE ADVENTURE BEGIN!
