Conservative MPs have been falling over themselves to defend Dominic Cummings. Health Secretary Matt Hancock has today undermined months of his own work to control the virus.

Lots of you thought Rishi Sunak was a half decent bloke, doing his best in difficult circumstances. Then he tweeted this and people shook their heads, muttering "Oh Rishi"!

Dominic Raab, who was once a solicitor in the City, doesn't appear to have read his own government's legislation on the lockdown measures.

I downloaded tweets from the last three hours containing either "Dominic Cummings" or "Stephen Kinnock". The graph shows that Dominic Cummings was mentioned far more than Kinnock. About 92% of the tweets contained "Dominic Cummings" only. So, DC should be trending #dominicgoings
(I am not implying a conspiracy. Just saying in terms of volume, and as has been suggested by common sense, DC should be trending. It is not, but Kinnock is. I for one believe it fits the porn filter theory).
While there are many things that define what trends, incl. quality of accounts that promote message, number of tweets, speed of tweets, there is little doubt given the scale of the story Dominic Cummings would have fulfilled these aspects

BBC reporting on Cummings Scandal. I've numbered the paragraphs to show an implicit (or perhaps explicit) hierarchical bias that serves government line. 1) leads in with gov explanation 2) Embellishes Cummings justification 3) Cites non-damning police reprimand 4)cites opposition
5) Reverts to government explanation and justification. So along with the headline, which privileges no 10 explanation, the article seems arranged to treat Cummings with kid gloves #dominicgoings
The BBC ran another piece to more focused on the fact Cummings travelled. More damning, but it's centred around calls on Cummings to resign, but not on whether Cummings actually violated lockdown rules. Interesting in terms of framing bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politiโ€ฆ

By trying to justify Dominic Cummings' decision to travel across the country while he had coronavirus symptoms the government is undermining national respect for lock-down rules.
i.e. They're choosing to protect one of their own, at the expense of public safety.

N.B. THAT's the worst part of the story. Far worse than one man's actions.
The government has made this much worse by telling people it's OK to leave your house, jump in your car, visit family and stay in another address while you're showing Coronavirus symptoms.

But hey...
Telling people that something THEY want to do is in line with what our NHS needs, even when they know that it will cause catastrophic damage to public health, purely to protect their own selfish political interests...

...Pretty standard for this bunch!

Ah, would that this be true... I've seen tweets from 2 Tory MPs this morning, trying to spin the story.
Guess we're finding out (again) who're in the Cummings coterie...
Going to make this a thread of MPs defending Cummings for "visiting" his elderly parents, then his sister, in Durham, all the while he was in bed, with muscle spasms due to #COVIDใƒผ19, and his wife was praying for him, whilst making a castle with their son.
So, who do we have first? Step forward Robert Halfon.
