Yesterday 25 June 2021 was the 25th anniversary of #Alkhobar bombing in #SaudiArabia that killed 19 #US servicemen, injured 500+ from several nationalities, incl #Saudis #Pakistanis #Egyptians. Marked a shift for #Iran #IRGC's ops inside #KSA; close to ARAMCO & a major mil base.
Crater is where a sewage tanker truck detonated nearly 14,000 Kg of explosives. Bomb was a mixture of petrol & explosive powder placed in the tank of the truck. The material was smuggled in exported fruit trucks from #Lebanon and hidden underground in #Qatif, near #Alkhboar.
That day, I was with a group of journalists in #Kuwait waiting for a #US heli to take us to a #Saudi base for a briefing related to the situation with #Iraq. We waited for half a day. After #Alkhobar, US military disconnected for the next 72 hours. [Pic: briefing; Kuwaiti desert]

#Egypt is building new Singapore as its newest capital.

Thread: (Updated) ⚡🇪🇬

For more than 1050 years #Cairo has served as Egypt's capital.
But since 2016 a brand-new city has been constructing to serve as the new one. The New Administrative Capital (NAC) is its name. ImageImageImageImage
It was also reported to be named "Wedian" (Arabic plural for Wadi/ Valley). NAC is located 45km east of #Cairo on 700 sq km total area (equivalent to the size of 🇸🇬) that would have a population of 6-7 million.

A joint venture company is managing the project, containing the following key departments:

Soon after I moved to #NYC in 2002, I began a relationship with a Black man. We lived together for 3yrs. Very soon after we became a couple, I insisted we boycott Arab (Yemeni, I believe) owned stores in our neighbourhood because of their anti-Black racism.

#BlackLivesMatter
The men behind the counter in those stores didn’t know I speak Arabic. And when Marcus and I would go in together, they would say the most disgusting racist shit about Black men and why I was with a Black man. I confronted them. Shamed them. And boycotted them. #BlackLivesMatter
After one yelling match with them, I reminded them that post-9/11, Arabs or Muslims who knew what being profiled or being subjected to discrimination and violence was like, should be the last people to be racist.

#MuseumsUnlocked is full of fascinating yet frozen in time & place #Egypt

This #Egypt is exclusive & imagined. One you only see behind #Museums' glass display cases or digital screens

Not the vibrant full of contrasts #Egypt living in & within ancient & modern Egyptians 👇
Egypt is a multi-layer of living histories buzzing with changing power, people, and places. Too complex to be captured in a still brushed image of "iconic monument"...
It has the pharaohs but most importantly the ordinary people whose sweat & blood built it...

"The best way to remember Hosni #Mubarak is to know that he died at the age of 91, a free and rich man who spent 30 years of his life imprisoning, torturing, and stealing from #Egypt." I spoke to @isaCNN today
I was a Reuters correspondent in #Cairo 1993-1998 and reported on #Mubarak extensively. 1st time I chanted “Down with Hosni Mubarak” was at a protest in 2005, a year of activism that was one of many catalysts for #Jan25. There are now 60k political prisoners in Sisi jails.
"Sisi is the inheritor of #Mubarak and we will have another revolution....Trump who calls Sisi 'My favorite dictator' must know this. Trump is in #India now encouraging fascism there. And Americans must know, that Trump is encouraging fascism in #Egypt."

I was 14 when Mubarak became president - he was vice president to the assassinated Anwar Sadat - and 44 when Mubarak was forced to step down after #Jan25 revolution. I was a Reuters correspondent in Cairo from 1993-1998 and covered Mubarak extensively. Some memories to follow
News outlets will give you the official obituaries: These are recollections of an Egyptian woman who left #Egypt in 1975, returned in 1988 and asked her uncles and aunts almost every day “Where is the revolution?” because of what #Mubarak and military rule had done to Egypt.
And when I became a journalist, I reported on the censorship - and was subjected to it - of the #Mubarak regime, its use of systematic torture via the drunk-on-power myriad security apparatuses he created, as well as - esp 2005 onwards - sexual violence vs protesters.

.@hrw: the constitutional amendments were "a shameless attempt to entrench the military's power over civilian rule, and the referendum took place in such an unfree and unfair environment that its results can have no pretence to legitimacy". google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.… #Egypt
Opposition figures alleged that the government had denied #Egyptians freedom to express peacefully opposition to the changes before the vote and that it had used public money to distribute electoral bribes.
There were reports during the referendum that some people were offered free rides to their local polling stations or given food parcels once they’d voted. An activist was arrested for holding up a banner saying "No to the constitutional amendments" #Egypt

1. Toxic masculinity killed 25 people
2. State negligence and refusal to invest in the train system continues to kill #Egyptians
Clearly, the long-running neglect by successive #Egyptian regimes of the rail network has claimed too many lives. And re yesterday’s tragedy, the long-running refusal to confront patriarchy & toxic masculinity - on state and street level - will also continue to claim lives.
A fight between 2 men killed 25 people. When I write or talk about feminism and the need to dismantle patriarchy, I hear “This isn’t the time!” When is the time? Men who benefit from patriarchy don’t care about its toll on others. It took a toll on 25 people yesterday. #Egypt

There is horrific footage of the Ramses Train Station explosion showing people literally on fire after the explosion set them ablaze. It is a gut wrenching embodiment of the toll on #Egyptians of state neglect.
Every week terrible news comes from #Egypt. Today’s train disaster, last week’s execution of 9 men, news of forced disappearances, the proposed amendments to the constitution that could give Sisi more terms in office. Daily people struggle to get by & survive state neglect & abuse
Ramses Station is used by millions every year. In Arabic it’s known as Mahatet Masr which means Egypt Station. A disaster like that at this Station symbolizes so much. I’ve taken the train from there to Alexandria many times; I took the train from Aswan to that station in 2017.

How is this summit happening in a country - #Egypt - where 15 people were executed in 3 weeks after trials denounced as incredibly unjust? How is Egypt - where no one has been held accountable for the massacre of 1.000 in 2013 - hosting a summit like this? google.com/amp/s/mobile.r…
The #EU might not care what the Sisi regime has done to #Egyptians but does it not care that that regime’s security forces murdered a European citizen, Gulio Regeini? He had been tortured so badly that his mother said she was able to identify his face only by the tip of his nose.
How has Sisi escaped the pariah status deservedly associated with Bashir and MBS: “But many confirmed their attendance only after it became clear that neither #Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir nor #Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman would show up.” #Egypt #EU

1/ Manu (The progenitor of Humankind)
All different races of Mankind are derived from Manu and Shradha. The current Manu is Vaivasvata Manu.
2/ The word Manu literary means man but it is a title given to the progenitor of mankind. According to Hindu Puranas there are many kalpas (One day of Lord Brahma the creator) and each Kalpa has 14 manvantara and each manvatara has one manu. So basically each Kalpa has 14 Manus.
3/ The current manu of the present manvantara is Shraddhadeva or Vaivasvata Manu of this current Kalpa. He is the son of Vivasvat (Probably Surya) and is therefore also known as Manu-vaivasvata.
