The FIVE kinds of people you'll find in the queues at #Elections2021today:

1. The complainers. At least one person will be trying to moan to the people around them in the queue about how long it’s taking.
These people also have all sorts of solutions on how to make the process quicker. They'll tell you the country is a mess and 'queues like this are unacceptable in this day and age'.
2. Those who wear the shirts of the party they’re voting for. We don't care. Your vote is your secret. I’m not going to change my vote because I see you in your shirt. Some of them even have flags.

Calcutta High Court to hear today election petition filed by West Bengal Chief Minister @MamataOfficial challenging the election of BJP leader @SuvenduWB from Nandigram constituency in the 2021 assembly elections

#SuvenduAdhikari Image
The case will be heard by Justice Kausik Chanda.

Banerjee had meanwhile written to Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal requesting him to reassign the election petition on the ground that Justice Chanda was an active member of BJP before he became a judge…
Bench assembles. Dr AM Singhvi appears.

Are you for petitioner: Court.

That is a very delicious question. I am for the petitioner, says Dr. Singhvi.

2/7. The UP government says there is no proven connection between the holding of the elections and the deaths of these teachers who, as the Allahabad High Court noted, did not volunteer to render their services “but it was all made obligatory.”

3/7. The UP government, the unions point out, sought no postponements. Rather, its pleader had assured the Supreme Court “that guidelines for protecting people from Covid infections would be strictly followed during counting of votes.” That never happened.

What to look out for over the next 24 hours and beyond 👇👇👇
Big macro questions hanging over these results

1) are the Tories continuing their advance in Labour’s northern and midlands redoubts?
2) if so, how much of that is a continuation of 2019 and how much can be attributed to the vaccine effect? Ie how much is structural/transitory?
3) Just how strong is the pro-independence contingent in Holyrood?

Am off almost certainly to sit awake in a darkened room for a few hours but I’ll be back on air on the BBC News channel from 0330ish. Then Breakfast from 0600. Join us! #Elections2021

As per the Assam Polls 2016 seat-sharing in numbers:

BJP – 60,

CONG – 26,

AIUDF – 13,

AGP – 14,

BPF – 12, IND – 1

TOTAL - 126

Now BPF,CON,AIUDF,LEFT looks very strong rainbow 🌈 alliance but seat sharing will leads to disaster.
#elections2021 #Assemblyelections2021
BJP had contested 2016 Assam polls in alliance with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) & Bodoland People’s Front (BPF). It won 60 of the 89 & AGP 14 of the 30 seats contested while the BPF had the best strike rate by winning 12 of the 13 seats contested.
The BJP replaced the BPF with the United People’s Party Liberal this time and there are chances that the new regional ally, confined to the Bodoland Territorial Region, would end up contesting fewer seats than it is eyeing for.

In Punjab, the @INCIndia clean swept the civic body elections by winning six out of eight Municipal Corporations and emerging as the largest party in seventh. CM @capt_amarinder credited his govt's developmental policies for the victory ahead of state elections next year.
Overall, the Congress won 1,373 of the 2,218 seats that went to the polls, followed by the SAD (285), AAP (60), BJP (49), and BSP (5). This was also considered as the semi-final before the state goes in the election next year.
The BJP and SAD had to suffer the humiliating loss, due to the anti farm law sentiments and widespread protest. However, agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar attributed local politics to this while brushing off any causal link between election and farm laws protest.
