Azadi is not an option
A #Thread
What does a misguided #Kashmiri mean by “Azaadi”? Is it the right to #equality, right to #freedom, right against exploitation, right to freedom of religion, cultural & educational rights, right to property & right to constitutional remedies
(1/27)
If that is the meaning of “Azaadi” then it is already entrusted to them through the #constitution then who are these people and why are they asking for Azadi?
(2/27)
The people of #kashim for long have been disassociated with the #progress in mainland due to provisions of #Article_370 which restricted the investment and #development in the state.

The #FOMC today began the process of “operationalizing” the average inflation targeting framework that Chair #Powell first laid out in his Jackson Hole, WY, Economic Policy Conference speech: including new guidance on how long #policy rates can be expected to remain near zero.
Specifically, policy #rates will remain at current levels “until #labor market conditions have reached levels consistent with the Committee's assessments of maximum #employment and #inflation has risen to 2 percent and is on track to moderately exceed 2 percent for some time.”
Still, we’re skeptical about the achievability of this #inflation goal when the #disinflationary influences of technological #innovation and the #demographic trend of #population aging arguably hold a greater impact on the rate of inflation than central bank #policy does.

A #BasicIncome is also a means to protect these workers from loosing Weeks to Months of Income before they qualify for benefits. It's FASTER than EI. It's FASTER than Welfare.
How many mothers need to work 2 or 3 jobs just to pay the rent and bills? Sacrificing #FamilyQualityTime is not helping our society increase benefits of life by not having enough time for family outings, and experiences that can benefit creativity in the workplace.

A tremendous amount of ink has been spilled discussing the supposed quandary of the #equity market’s robust recovery since March, while at the same time #economic improvement has been more uneven and uncertain.
At the heart of this misunderstanding is an apples-to-oranges comparison: the fact is that the #stock #market and the #economy, while connected, are two meaningfully distinct entities.
As a case in point, the correlation between domestic corporate #profits and #GDP #growth collapsed in the 1990s and has hovered near zero for the past three decades. Image

Government consumption increased by 16%, but that just wasn't enough. After all how much more can the government eat?

The @federalreserve’s #JacksonHole Policy Symposium has typically been thought of as an event of #academic contemplation, rather than of active #policy innovation, but 2020’s event proved to be the exception to the rule.
That’s because #Fed #ChairPowell surprised many by introducing the #FOMC’s Statement on Longer-Run Goals and Monetary Policy Strategy, which was not expected until later in the year.
In many respects, the Strategy statement represents a mirror image to the #Fed’s stance more than a generation ago, in August 1979, when Chair Paul #Volcker took over leadership of the central bank…

Don't pit employment indicators against economic growth targets, stressed Yu Yongding:
new.cf40.org.cn/uploads/202008…
People used to hold that when local governments are required to set economic growth targets, they normally aimed at growth only and tended to make investment blindly.1/6
However, there will be more problems if we only care about #employment and neglect economic growth. Without growth, how can we boost employment? Local governments will be more at loss when assigned only employment targets...2/6
Should they adjust statistical methods to reach a goal of 2% employment growth? Employ 102 people to do sth that can be done by 100? Make government agencies more redundant? Go back to labor-intensive industries that were prevalent in the early stages of reform & opening-up?..3/6

The importance of #GDP growth target from three perspectives by Yu Yongding from CASS:

new.cf40.org.cn/uploads/202008…

1/5
1. Without a growth target, many important indicators can't be determined. A target helps coordinate macroeconomic policies across the government and form market expectations. 2020 Government Work Report actually has an implied nominal GDP growth rate of 5.4%...2/5
2. Ensuring #employment, which has been identified as the top priority in the Report, does not conflict with economic growth. In fact, #unemployment can only be resolved through two channels: economic growth and improved unemployment insurance system...3/5

What will Australia’s workforce look like in 2025? Australia faces an enormous task of reskilling, from graduates battling their way into the worst job market in a lifetime, to older workers needing to retrain. #abc730 @andy_park #employment abc.net.au/news/2020-08-1…

We have always tried predicting the #future looking at past information and trends. This time it’s not going to be easy.
There is no past comparable to this event. Nothing like this has happened in our lifetime. When something similar happened 100 years back, the world was a lot different place.
In terms of #trends, things are changing so fast and it's such a short span (although it looks like an eternity that we have been locked inside our houses) of time, its difficult to find any trends to predict the future.

The @federalreserve’s actions, language and overall tone today were very much like those of a #flight crew that has taken on precautionary #fuel to make sure the plane can arrive at a yet-to-be-determined destination without problems.
The fact is that there is great uncertainty regarding the progression of the #coronavirus #pandemic and the timing of a return to #economic normalcy and the #Fed has been diligently preparing for this.
More important than the public statements today were the discussions that took place around the #Fed’s boardroom table regarding the evolving #policy toolkit and potential implementation if things become worse for the #economy.
