APC Made Two Cardinal Mistakes In Lagos State

Thread 🧵

These are...

1. Thinking, believing and making everybody to believe that Lagos elections is a fight between the Yoruba and Igbo.

2. Assuming that anybody that is not Yoruba in Lagos must be Igbo.
They didn't understand these basic sets of people who are against them.

1. The Aworis & Yorubas who are indigenous Lagosians.

2. Danfo drivers & conductors.

3. Car owners in Lagos irrespective of where they come from especially those that have been scammed by LASTMA and VIO.
4. Graduates who are working as Uber drivers, Keke drivers, Danfo and Korope drivers and as Conductors.

5. Anybody who has ever lived in any Western Country before for a period of up to a year and above but now live in badly administered Lagos.

1. It was a faithful night at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos, with conditions that were ripe for disaster. A tragedy that shocked the World. On that penultimate night of the peaceful demonstrative rallies, a Twitter user twitted that the Army were on their way to the tollgate,
2. but innocent Nigerian youths maintained their positions. Armed with just placards & our loud voices, singing the National Anthem at the top of our lungs, we thought that those were symbolic, & they would save us. WE WERE WRONG! This is a very Sad Nigerian Haunting Story.. 💔😭
3. Overwhelmed by pent-up anger & bursting from the inside to be heard, we never imagined that the Armed Forces who are meant to protect us, were out for blood. At around 7:45 PM on 20.10.2020, our comrades stationed on the lookout, spotted the Nigerian Army directly ahead.

People of Nigerian descent and human rights activists around the world have taken to the streets under the banner of #EndSARSProtest: a global protest movement over Nigeria's lawless, murdering Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

themarysue.com/endsars-what-i…

1/
SARS was founded in 1984 in answer to a wave of property crimes, today, its founder Fulani Kwajafa says that it has "turned into banditry" - @amnesty has documented 82 cases of torture, brutality and murder by SARS since 2017.

2/
The current wave of protests was ignited by the public murder of a young man by SARS officers on Oct 8. President Muhammadu Buhari has disbanded the unit, but the criminals who served in it have been deployed elsewhere in Nigerian security forces, spreading the contagion.

I know we are all concentrating on the #EndSARS campaign, but here is a thread on some financial information regarding the state of the country's debt that we should all analyse and research!!

We are not all finance people, so it'd be short and as direct as possible

THREAD
While working in a bank, HR didn't allow staff loans if the repayment was more than 30% of your take home!

This is a key reason why I don't agree with those who quote DEBT:GDP ratio because GDP DOES NOT pay debt.

Pay more attention to the debt service/revenue ratio.
In June 2015,

- Nigeria's Foreign debt was $10billion
- Nigeria's local currency debt was N10.1trillion
- Nigeria's budget expenditure was N4.3trillion

Fast forward to June 2020,

- Nigeria's Foreign debt is $31.5billion
- Nigeria's local currency debt is N19.5trillion

I got to the office yesterday.
I saw a woman sitting on the staircase, weeping quietly.
She had before her, 2 transparent buckets, both half filled with boiled eggs & meat pies.
I asked her what the problem was.
Her response broke my heart... ImageImage
She came out of her with these buckets, hoping to sell all her stuff.
It was 4pm, thereabouts & she was just about halfway through the sales.
She didn't think she'd sell them all before dark, she'd not earned as much as she thought she would.
She had hungry kids at home...
The food will be sour by morning.
She had no idea how her next day would be.
I just couldn't bear it: I gave her what I had on me.

This morning, I went to see a client at Lifecamp.
At the gate, this young man was scavenging the dustbin, looking for whatever he could salvage... ImageImage

DAY 9: KEYS TO REWIRING NIGERIA

Today is DAY 9 of #EndSARSProtest, as aggrieved Nigerian youths continue to yearn for a holistic #PoliceReforms.

At least, 90% of @PoliceNG contacts with ordinary Nigerians, which sparked the ongoing protests, occur on roadways, with motorists. Image
2/ Having critically examined the contending issues behind the #EndSARSProtest, in this thread, I'll bare my mind on 5 Major Keys to rewiring Nigeria.

@NigeriaGov must look into:
- Central Database
- Policing System
- Justice System
- Road Infrastructure
- Transport Ministry ImageImageImageImage
3/ On October 11, in a thread, I bared my mind on how the Police in saner climes, e.g., U.S., make traffic stops across roadways, according to best global practices, as opposed to how @PoliceNG make traffic stops at their roadblocks of extortion. Read👇

Contrary to the narratives being circulated across social media in respect of a bus belonging to Lagos Bus Services Limited, (LBSL) captured at the Secretariat Bus Stop this morning.
While giving a background to the video, MD of LBSL, Mr. Idowu Oguntona stated that bus 240171 in the video was heading towards Oshodi from Berger around 8 a.m when some armed individuals disembarked from a particular yellow vehicle in front of the bus at the Secretariat Bus Stop,

This rascality has to stop NOW! Another peaceful protester Jimoh Isiaq killed by a policeman during the Ogbomosho #EndSarsProtest. This is so painful and hits me differently. The demand is clear #EndSars not to reform the unit.

#Thread
The death of Jimoh Isiaq should trigger a more constructive and robust engagement with Nigerians who are expressing their displeasure with the police.
Lautech is my alma mater, I am not pleased with what's happening in Ogbomosho at the moment. However, I enjoin everyone to maintain law and order to prevent further escalations.

There is no difference between those protesting #EndSars and PMB who is also fighting Corruption. The difference is PMB is a lone ranger in his fight, because even those shouting #EndSars are part, and product of Corruption. So PMB now find himself in between two monsters. But if
the Youths are serious about ending SARS, they must join hands with PMB in the War Against Corruption, because the oga kpatakpata of SARS brutality is corruption in @PoliceNG, if you kill Corruption in NPF, reforming the Police will be an easy task. The Nigerian Youths can now
see that it is not easy to fight and root out any virus in the polity. I therefore call on all Nigerians youths to join in the War Against Corruption, if they want to be taking seriously on #EndSarsProtest, otherwise the corrupt elite's will frustrate their efforts.

December 24th, 2019, I was detained by one officer called Julius in oshogbo, oke fia police station.
It started when his boys flagged my car down and asked me who owns the car, I said me. All he said was let’s go to the station, he entered the car.
On our way going, I wanted to call my lawyer but he took the phone from me angrily. I was driving confidently since I knew I have nothing incriminating with me. I got to their office in oke-fia and I was taken to his boss, Julius.
The policeman that stopped me said oga Julius this is one yahoo boy we caught on our way going to the place you sent us, that was when I knew his name is Julius. I was standing and wondering who’s the yahoo boy his saying because am the only one with him in Julius office.#EndSARS

A thread on what’s happening in Nigeria at the moment 🇳🇬 #EndSARS
The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is a unit of the Nigerian Police Force.

Over the years, there have been public records of SARS units committing acts of corruption and malpractice across the country.

Despite this, the Nigerian government has failed to take action.
SARS units across Nigeria have been unlawfully arresting and detaining young people across the country - kidnapping, murdering, stealing and extorting money from them and their family members.
