.@realREANigeria’s #EnergizingEducation prog is ongoing (Phase 1) in 8 locations across the country: Kano, Sokoto, Bauchi, Benue, Anambra, Delta, Lagos, Osun

Point I’m trying to make is there’s a deliberate + determined effort to make sure every part of Nigeria equitably touched
River Niger getting one new bridge, River Benue also getting one (Loko-Oweto). That’s the spirit. Do here do there. #infrastructure

In governance and policymaking PMB and PYO don’t treat PDP Governors as ‘opposition’. And its heartwarming to see the Governors also reciprocating - PDP Govs don’t treat them as ‘opposition’ President/VP.

This should be the norm, tbh - but in Nigeria it hasn’t always been so.
I don’t know of any PDP Gov since 2015 who doesn’t deeply respect the President & VP. (Pls don’t call Fayose’s name lol. That one was an aberration).

And its a genuine respect - based on, I know these guys are not here trying to oppress or cheat me (Unlike some past Presidents)
Everyone gets what is due to them - regardless of party affiliation or politics. Bailout, Paris Club, Social Inv, etc. The 1st completed project of #EnergizingEducation was in Ebonyi. Ebonyi also benefited early from PFI. Rivers has one of highest No’s of NPower beneficiaries.

#EnergizingEducation is one of the most exciting power sector initiatives Nigeria has seen in a while. Guaranteeing stable power for Universities will have a huge impact on quality of education and student life. Phase 1 ongoing: 9 Fed Unis and 1 Teaching Hospitals, nationwide

BRF: “Reality before privatization is that Ministry of Power had over 50,000 staff, owned trucks, employed electricians who went out to repair faults, controlled power stations like Jebba,Kainji, Egbin & employed all who worked in Distribution. All that is gone, since Nov 2013.”
BRF: “From over 50,000 staff, the Ministry now has a staff strength of 729 people. There are no electricians, fitters, repair vehicles or distribution staff in our ministry anymore and we do not supply, repair or replace distribution transformers or meters.”
BRF: “All of these are now the work of the DisCos, under contract with BPE and under license by NERC as a matter of Law.”

Spending the morning on a Rice Mill in Kano. They’re reporting a massive increase in quantity (and quality) of available paddy - a lot of people have gone into farming, & milling capacity also growing fast. This rice revolution is real, people google.com/amp/s/amp.ft.c…

Local production is up significantly, but we still have some way to go until it meets all of local demand. That’s the simple reason why it’ll take some time for prices to come down to levels Nigerians are anticipating. Demand is still ahead of supply, but supply is growing fast.
MD of one of the Rice Mills in Kano tells me: “A lot of people have gone back to the farms. People are now struggling to find land to farm. Places that were uncultivated before have now turned to farms... It’s not just rice, it’s beans, maize, etc.”

“Six pilot solar mini-grids operating since Jan & Feb in 5 Nigerian states give 15,000 people access to reliable electricity... partly funded with 1.7m euros (about $1.9m) from the EU and the German Govt in collaboration with Nigeria’s state governments.” nyti.ms/2zzp3mc
Nigeria’s creation of a renewable energy department is “really a major shift,” said Ina Hommers, head of GIZ’s Nigerian Energy Support Program. “It’s going to make Nigeria more independent from other costly energy resources. And it creates additional jobs ‘cos it’s a new sector.”
Useful to add: @AsoRock very actively pushing solar agenda, through @realREANigeria’s initiatives: #EnergizingEducation, #EnergizingEconomies, etc. 13,000 shops in SabonGari Market, Kano being powered using solar(photos below). Also Nig issued debut Sovereign #GreenBond a year ago
