1. 2014 amendment upheld with suitable reading down
2. Law laid down in RC gupta has been upheld

3. 3. For employees in service and were not allowed to exercise option pre 2014 under proviso to 11(3)— they shall be entitled to exercise said option under amended 11(4) #EPFO #SupremeCourt

Increasing allocation to equities will allow EPFO subscribers to participate in the #stockmarket materially. The large corpus under the EPFO will also raise the demand for equity and bring in added #liquidity. This is good for #Indian investors’ equity wealth. (2/6)

Currently, the EPFO can invest between 5% to 15% of their investible deposits in equity or equity-related instruments. They want to bring this number up to 20%. (3/6)

Lets take it through the numbers as to how relevance of #LIC in the #Equity Markets has detoriated. 1) #LIC puts in a net of 50-60k crores a year on an average. #MutualFunds in last few months hold 25-40k crores of cash and 8000 crores of monthly inflow through #SIP.

2) Total Value of #MutualFunds in #Equity has surpassed #LIC value quite some time back. 3) #SIP at almost 90-100k crore is double the money #LIC can deploy. 4) #EPFO averages 25000-30000 cr will soon cross #LIC. Thanks to it #SBI Nifty 50 ETF is now 66000 cr and largest #MF sch
