MANIFESTO (THREAD 1/6)

<A Thread on Our Current State of Affairs>

We used to one community everywhere. All of us. I actually hoped we'd spread that to the world.

But the poltical parties' unending quest to take and keep power, especially the GOP, have destroyed our sense of community.
1/
Where are all the mini democracies we used to depend on daily? Our PTAs, our unions, our (yes) community organizations, our heavily attended town hall meetings?

We no longer listen to each other and instead scream at each other from afar, then wonder how we got here.
2/
For millennia the only thing that has enabled the tasty pink packages that our bodies truly are to survive has been numbers against predators and bad humans. We're inherently social beings for a reason...

@GovParsonMO As detailed by the gov after Greitens
sheer stupidity that truly frightens.
Show me incompetence:
Parson’s claims make no sense. His
feigned ignorance surely enlightens.

Donald’s virus won’t soon disappear.
As Mike plays it both ways
many eyebrows we raise.
His mixed messages ring insincere.
We can vote #LIBERTY,
or vote death — we must #VOTE
like it impacts our breath. 😷

Science ain’t his forte;

So to no one’s amazement or shock every county went red on Mike’s clock.

I'm doing my morning thing, reading articles, my virtual newspaper, and in a piece by Bill Krystal there's a link to Lincoln's concluding remarks to Congress, Dec 1st, 1862.

Then suddenly I'm crying.

This was one month after Lincoln signed The Emancipation Proclamation:
1/
"I do not forget the gravity which should characterize a paper addressed to the Congress of the nation by the Chief Magistrate of the nation. Nor do I forget that some of you are my seniors, nor that many of you have more experience than I, in the conduct of public affairs.
2/
Yet I trust that in view of the great responsibility resting upon me, you will perceive no want of respect yourselves, in any undue earnestness I may seem to display.

On the 50th anniversary of the signing of The Declaration of Independence, the mayor of D.C., one Roger Weightman, asked Thomas Jefferson to attend.

Jefferson was in poor health, and very near the end of his life.

So Jefferson wrote a letter to decline. He knew the journey was impossible for him. Ten days after penning this letter, Jefferson was dead.

While Jefferson is not a perfect messenger, (none of our founders were) his letter explained what #IndependenceDay meant to him.
2/
I've decided to put it in a thread, so that we might know the minds of the folks who were THERE when we broke the chains that lawless kings thrust upon us.

Please read it all, Jefferson was dichotomous at times, and it's not very long of a read.

Hell yeah it sucks, and it's yet another product of Wall St. greed.

Our gov't IS BOUGHT.

THAT'S NOT DEMOCRACY.

Folks keep sayin' we gotta save democracy, but that ain't true.
1/
We don't have a democracy anymore.

ProTip folks: you live in an oligarchy. Our gov't hasn't worked correctly for decades.

If it did, we wouldn't be here right now.

#fact

Because it's BOUGHT.
2/
And why?

Because we DON'T VOTE.

I ain't bringin' receipts for this one, you know the truth.

AMERICANS DON'T VOTE.

Sure you and your family might, but all of us are adding up to about 40%.

In a fucking DEMOCRACY.😡
