* BREAKING *
I'm #StopBrexitSteve and today I'm throwing my hat into the ring & standing for election for the European Parliament as an Independent candidate in London.
Stop Brexit Steve is launching the Campaign to Remain in the EU.
#EUelections2019
1/
I started the anti-Brexit protest outside parliament: The Stand of Defiance European Movement (#SODEM) & it has been going since 5 Sept 2017.
The aim was to get a pro-EU message into the media and to stop the silencing of the Remain Movement who were almost entirely ignored.
2/
The Remain Movement also appeared to lack political representation.
And so I've stood in all weathers and slowly more and more people came to join me & told me that I'd given them hope. I've always said that it’s not about me but about the message.

Right, we have 5 weeks of this campaign the #EUelections2019.

The @Libdems have the members, deliverers, structure, staffing and candidates to stand full lists in every region.

They have been utterly anti-brexit since the very beginning of this sorry episode. 1/
@LibDems The Greens initially back the referendum result, before switching ostensibly to Remain in 2017.
It’s not clear to me that they have the full buy-in of members and voters to remain in the EU that the Libdems do, although even the LDs have people who support Leave. 2/
@LibDems The Chuks didn’t even have a political party to float until Friday. Word is they have emailed everybody on their email list to pitch around for candidates. Quality of these candidates will not necessarily be as rigorous as it should. 3/

BREAKING: Electoral Commission refuses to honour commitment to EU citizens

Over the last few days we have been in contact with the @ElectoralCommUK regarding disenfranchisement of EU citizens during the 2014 EU election - bound to repeated this year.
theguardian.com/politics/2014/…
1/
In 2014 the @ElectoralCommUK committed to ensure "that electoral registration officers are aware that they MUST send [the extra] form [needed by EU citizens]" for this year's European Parliament elections.

2/
To our great disappointment the @ElectoralCommUK has now informed us that they will NOT instruct local Electoral Registration Officers to send out the extra form needed by EU citizens to take part in the #EUElections2019 in the UK.

The @Telegraph is wrong to say MEPs represent a zombie Parliament.

They are chosen by you, the electorate, and work (yes, work) for a fully active and responsive legislature. #EPfactsUK Thread.
The European Parliament is jointly responsible for passing nearly 90% of new EU law.

Upset by Manafort verdict in the US? Mad at the alt-right coming back to San Francisco in May or by Brexit coming to the UK? Unsure about the future of Europe? Remember what happened to the world in the 1930s? Can we do anything? #YesWeCan 👇👇👇
Now is the time to take action. Here 👇is a concrete step. If you are in the US, watch, learn, like and share with others 👇. If you are an EU citizen, watch, like, share & make sure to vote 23--26 May 2019, to save the EU from the Russian mafia state and locally-bred extremists.
Putin's goal is the dissolution of NATO, dissolution and weakening of the EU and the subversion of the Western liberal democracies. The European Union Parliament in Putin's hands is a danger to the US and the whole world. Act now. facebook.com/Avaaz/videos/2…
