2/18 eIDAS is an EU regulation on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the European Single Market. It was established in 2014 but did not realise its intended potential. Hence, the planned revision.
3/18 Current shortcomings of the regulation include:
1) Optional #eID notification for member states;
2) Limited option to exercise data protection rights;
3) Limitation to public services and
4) No level playing field for trust service providers.
