Image

#Italy DECLARES, according to #Eurostat principles, an higher GDP etc.
Yet, as @michaelxpettis asserted today about #China;
1. Most of it is "directed" by the government;
2. "Government" GDP measures activity, not value added, and it's usually one for one with debt. (/)
As such, just google "Italian GDP and Debt to GDP" , and see what happens; #Italy has lost two decades vs. The rest of the #EU , in a "the tortoise and the SLOWER tortoise" parody of "the Tortoise and the hare". (/)
In fact, it could be construed that #Italy's business model is this: compressing sector growth from future years into the present one forcibly ( see the 110% house energy efficiency fiscal incentive), coupled with a "private success must be punished" bent.(/)

➡ Κοινή δήλωση με @E_Achtsioglou

Monthly excess mortality in Sweden 🇸🇪 and the EU 🇪🇺 2020–21. Data from Eurostat: ec.europa.eu/eurostat/cache… #Eurostat #COVID19 #Sweden Graph showing monthly exces...
I think the graph illustrates two things, both of which can be true at the same time: (1) Sweden did well in int'l comparison, all things told. (2) The first peak didn't have to be that tall: early, decisive action could have shaved the top off of it.
Relatedly: Sweden, Finland, Denmark all have comparable levels of excess mortality 2020–21. Norway is the sole outlier now.

"This...overview of the energy economy in the European Union (EU) in 2019...provides trends for the main energy commodities for primary energy production, imports and exports, gross available energy and final energy consumption."
ec.europa.eu/eurostat/stati… #Eurostat
2/The chart shows the Renewables and biofuel curve is on an upward trajectory, which is what we want. Instead of trying to increase the slope of the curve (i.e. accelerate the increase), just maintaining this slope will get us to the right goal. As renewables & biofuels increase,
3/and market incentives + gov't subsidies make oil & gas less appealing, capitalism will work its magic and consumer trends should shift towards consuming sustainable renewable and biofuel sources of energy. Slow and steady wins the race. Gov't mandates and closing down pipelines

When recommending a policy of empowering students in their language, I get frantic cries of "what about the student from Punjab living in Chennai, from Bihar in Bangalore etc."

I want to address this because a very small elite project their English-dependency onto others. 1/
Firstly, for what percent of people is inter-state migration an issue? Of the *entire* population of the country only 4.1% (42,341,703) migrated to a different state from where they were born. (2001 Census)

censusindia.gov.in/Census_And_You….
So almost 96% of India stays in the same place they were born in. Can we start devising policies for the 96% first, rather than the 4%?

The entire drama on migration is about 4%, but wait there's more.

Of the migrants, less than 20% move for work, business or education.
