फेसबुक आणि जिओ जे काय आज एकत्र आलेले मित्र नाहीत. तुमच्या लक्षात असेल तर आपण एक ट्रेंड केला होता चार-पाच वर्षांपूर्वी, फेसबुक तेंव्हा इंटरनेट.ऑर्ग नावाच्या एका उपक्रम अंतर्गत काही मोजक्या वेबसाईट्स चा गुच्छ जिओ सोबत फुकटात देणार होतं.
त्या गोष्टीला आपण सर्वांनी इतका कडाडून विरोध केला कि TRAI ला त्यावर बंदी घालावी लागली आणि फेसबुकलाही आपलं पाऊल मागे घ्यावं लागलं. तरीही काही गरीब देशांमध्ये त्यांनी हा अजेंडा पुढे रेटलाच. तेंव्हा फेसबुकने नुकतंच (फेब २०१४) व्हॉट्सअप १९ बिलियन डॉलर्स ला विकत घेतलं होतं.

Deal rationale - Facebook had $50B of cash on B/S making practically no money. Deploying $5.7 bn in Jio gives them broader access to India and India 2 retail users. For Reliance, it strengthens their consumer wallet share and brings big ability to cross service clients.
