The history of suppressing the .32 ACP cartridge, a thread

The .32 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) aka 7.65mm Browning was the first successful automatic cartridge design from John Browning. It was unveiled in 1899 and the first weapon chambered thus was the FN Browning 1900
The .32 ACP / 7.65mm Browning was an immensely popular handgun cartridge, largely because it comes in small, concealable handguns and has modest recoil and performs beyond numbers on paper. Note: US loadings are usually at much lower pressure vs. Euro. Great for handloaders!
Gavrilo Princip kicked off The Great War* by capping Archduke Franz Ferdinand with FN Model 1910 #19074

FN .32s were very popular in Asia, esp. Chy-na, where they were imported and copied extensively; the Norks made standard and suppressed variants

* Yeah, yeah

I'll be effortposting about themes, weapons, etc. from my novel #Faction leading to the launch of the Burning Twenties edition. Let's kick things off with the iconic Czech vz.61 Škorpion

Officially the Škorpion was intended for Czech internal security, tank crews, etc.
How the Czechs issued the vz.61 within their military was less relevant than its use in the rest of the world. Czech arms were a critical component of communist world revolution from the 60s on, and the vz.61 was a favorite of assassins and terrorists, such as the Brigate Rosse
I've scanned Peter Kokalis' great article from Small Arms Review September 2003 for your enjoyment. He believes that the vz.61 was always intended as an urban insurgency weapon. Article presented in jpg format

Russia also targeted #peopleofcolor (specifically black voters) to sow distrust of Hillary & the political process, which helped Trump's campaign. 3…
