One key rule of farming is patience.

If you are not patient enough don't worry you can still be in the agric business.
Yes, I said so because along the value chain there are many ways of making money but one key opportunity for those who want to venture is agro marketing.
#farms
There are many agricultural products people around you consume; you could start being a distributor.

In fact, most times I advise anyone who wants to go into farming or production to start off marketing.

That way you begin to learn some basics so when you go into your own, you would have identified the need of the customers in your niche.

For example, if you want to start a layers farm, sell eggs!

Most of the urban area in #Pompeii consisted in private households. Therefore, the city provides an excellent vantage point to learn more about Roman housing and its evolution over time. Image
The upper classes mainly lived in #domus, large houses sometimes covering an area of about 3,000 sq. m. The domus were usually based on the same main structure. The front door led into the #atrium, a large central hall open at the roof. Image
Around the atrium the other rooms of the house were located: the bedrooms (#cubicula), the servants’ quarters, the dining rooms (#triclinia) and living rooms. ImageImage

📚 This #InternationalWomensDay, a little reading on the West African context 👇🏾

Our partners spent 3 years preparing our report on the transition to #agroecology in West Africa. It was (and remains) abundantly clear how critical #women are to this transition 🌿

🧵Thread /1
"#Women produce between 40-80% of food in the region and playing a leading role in local #food distribution and street vending in West Africa." #IWD2021

/2
🔎 But data measuring the share of food produced, processed & sold by women remains inherently complex & varies across countries. In fact, “quantifying the share of food produced by women involves making many arbitrary assumptions about gender roles in the production process.” /3

IPES-Food co-chair Olivier De Schutter spoke with the EU's Horizon Magazine on the paradox of a #food system that continues to marginalise many food producers.

"We need to give them back their voices" - @DeSchutterO
"In the last 40, 50 years, we’ve been making choices in terms of agricultural and research and development policies that have sought to improve the efficiency of @FoodSystems at the expense of small-scale farms and local #foodsystems."
"By prioritising economies of scale, large-scale #farms and thus the ability to mechanise, long supply chains, and encouraging the division of labour between regions and countries, we have marginalised many actors in the food system." - @DeSchutterO.

What did #famers get in #Budget, where @nsitharaman claimed, "Our Govt is committed to the goal of doubling farmers income by 2022"

P.S-Acc to Dalwai committee,"real income of farmer, should increase by 10.4%/year,which has been increasing less than 2.5% in last 5 years
@nsitharaman @_YogendraYadav @aviksahaindia @sayantanbera @seemay @Ghair_Kanooni @Subytweets @sritara @srinivasanravi @DrSarvapriya @RURALINDIA Govt allocates 9.3% of the budget to #Agri, allied,irrigation & #rural development, which was 9.8% last year. Factoring Inflation, Real Increase in allocation is actually negative.

Is this enough ?
Will this increase #farm income, prop up #rural demand ?

@nsitharaman @_YogendraYadav @aviksahaindia @sayantanbera @seemay @Ghair_Kanooni @Subytweets @sritara @srinivasanravi @DrSarvapriya @RURALINDIA @mkvenu1 @PreetiSMenon Govt allocated 1.58 lakh crore to #agri, allied sectors & irrigation i.e. 5.2% of the total budget. Last years budget had allocated 1.52 lakh crore, which was 5.45% of the budget i.e. reduced spending !

👉Will this double #farm income by 2022 ?🙄
