Unfortunately, it has come to my attention that a very talented artist whose work is beloved by many zoos and furries has used their influence and platform to unintentionally spread harmful misinformation. Despite the good intentions of @Elicitie, this must be corrected.
This is a position @Elicitie, I, zoos, and many animal advocates share. Indeed sexual contact between homosapiens and other taxalogical families should be consensual. The term 'zoophilia' has been superseded by 'zoosexuality' in the literature.

Do you purport to care about #conservation? Keep your damn cats indoors and minimize their threat to #birds, #mammals, & lizards.

#cats that are allowed to roam outside, feral or otherwise, are a major threat to our #wildlife and #biodiversity.
There’s fantastic studies on the threat to #wildlife that outdoor #cats pose in Australia. But don’t be fooled into thinking this problem is restricted to just Australia—#feral and free roaming cats are contributing to millions of wildlife deaths every year in the USA.
Thanks to @tiredguineapig for highlighting these fantastic Infographs in a recent tweet. We need these for Europe and the US!

My first #dissertation chapter has been published! The paper focuses on #predation of #urban #wildlife by #cats with recommendations for collaborative data-driven management strategies. Main points are summarized in this #infographic, but more info and paper link in this thread!
We spent 3 years surveying #WashingtonDC for #cats using #trailcams. Whenever we saw an image of a cat carrying prey, we noted the species and location, and added it to our predation database.
So what influences predation rates by #urban #feral cats? We found 2 driving factors: access to cat food and distance to forest edge. Why would cat food increase predation? Supplemental food allows cats to occur at greater densities, amplifying population-level predation!

For the return of the #UNMBioblog after our year hiatus, I chose to write about the negative consequences for cats, humans, and #wildlife when we allow #cats to roam freely. I couldn't help myself with the punny title.

I was inspired to write this blog after I witnessed my neighbor's outdoor pet #cat killed a #bird under my feeder. A heated argument ensued. I know nothing has changed because I still scare him out of my backyard. I've counted 9 different cats in my backyard, here is one
I am a paradoxical #catlover, which stems from my #science & #ornithology career. I know how cute it is for my own #cat to frolic in flowers but I understand how dangerous it is for #cats, human #health, & #wildlife when cats roam #CatsOfTwitter #Caturday #catsofinstagram

296. #Moxie (2021) A fun and entertaining coming of age movie that might be a bit flawed, but the performances by the cast is good and it is a bit long however it deals with a lot of important issues and it have a really powerful scene at the end, the direction is strong. ⭐⭐⭐ ImageImageImageImage
297. #TheHitchHiker (1953) A swift thrilling noir film that is visually pleasing with great direction, it is very tense, suspensful and fast paced (yeah it's only 70 min)anchored by a trio of great performances by the cast. The story might not fully fleshed but still fun. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ImageImageImageImage

1/ Todays #rewildingscience paper sees us take a look at Dolly Jørgensen’s Rethinking Rewilding which investigates how the term rewilding was adopted and modified in ecological scientific discourse - sciencedirect.com/science/articl… #rewilding #ScienceTwitter Image
2/ The author starts by pointing out that the term rewilding has not come from nowhere and that ‘Wilderness’ as a conservation target, particularly in the US, has a long history.
3/ The Wilderness Act in 1964 defined it as ‘an area where the earth and its community of life are untrammeled by man’, yet wilderness was also a ‘resource’ for human use.

If I gave you 100 guesses, you wouldn't get what I was doing today.
Contemporary dance.
Yes, really.
We were filming for #FERAL, a new piece of music & film by @HollieAHarding and Josh Ben-Tovim of @ImpermanenceDT.
Hang on a minute, I hear you say. As anyone who knows me can testify, when I'm on the dancefloor I make Ann Widdecombe look like Darcy Bussell.
Fortunately, they filmed me doing the only thing I can do with any measure of grace.
Kayaking.
Contemporary kayak dancing.
Sort of.
