It occurs to me that in Thomas’ novel, the guilty officer reacts to a situation on gut instinct, rather than acting in his role as a protector. This happens far too often in our society. It highlights the fundamental failures of our societal hierarchy. (4/21)

Thought experiment: how about a 10 year moratorium where men cannot be voted or appointed to office? Sounds drastic but it’s what women endured until recently, other minorities too. And might be the best way to change our culture of patriarchy and misogyny.
