2. You say the families would be held until they got a “fair trial.” AG Barr just appointed IJs with some of the highest denial rates to the BIA. One judge has 98% asylum denial rate. The DOJ is creating an immigration system where “fair” +due process don’t exist + you know that.
3. You count on people not doing their research to spread the false narrative that you’re doing this in the families’ best interests. Since when? #FloresSettlement is the only legal shield these children have. Just a few months ago y’all were trying to take away their soap!
What is the #FloresSettlement? Think of it as a legal shield protecting migrant children. A shield to which this administration is taking a battering ram. No other administration since the 97’ settlement has ever sought to issue new regulations until now. humanrightsfirst.org/resource/flore…
As a reminder it was the #FloresSettlement that DOJ was trying to undermine when they argued migrant children didn’t need toothbrushes, showers or soap to meet the sanitary conditions set forth in the agreement.

Now, in its latest attack, to the #FloresSettlement, the Trump Administration wants to lift the limits on how long they can detain families. Essentially, they want the only shield protecting migrant children gone. #SaveFlores
