1/5 So #MossimoGiannulli, the fashion designer, decided it was better to bribe @USC coach to get his daughter into college than to let her go to @ASU. Other than the fact that I teach at ASU, here are some of the things he should have considered:
2/ We actually pride ourselves on being inclusive. As a narrative writing prof, I see the differences in the quality of the education my students got in high school and below—and there's no greater joy than seeing how much they can improve w/ the right guidance and encouragement.
3/5 By being exclusive, universities tilt heavily toward rewarding people who are privileged and benefited from great schools, tutors, enrichment opportunities. I like students who are gritty, resourceful, adaptable, empathetic. The @ASU students I taught have been that and more.
