What they are debating is not $10 trillion, 1 trillion per year for 10 years like the @EconomicPolicy Institute recommended. It’s less than the $6 trillion @SenSanders proposed. It’s less than the $3.5 trillion the President came down to. It’s now just $1.7 trillion. 3/11

It was not an abstract dream, but a concrete hope rooted in a dream for jobs, living wages, voting rights, and justice that Dr. King wanted his children and all children and generations to know.
The moral and constitutional crisis we face today is the direct result of forces in state legislatures that organized to push back against the political power that was mobilized here 58 years ago today.

8 years ago today, 5 members of the Supreme Court gutted section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, technically ending preclearance & unleashing an onslaught of voter suppression in states.
For the past 8 years (2,920 days), Congress could have fixed it. But McConnell nor Manchin did a thing for 8 years, and now they both want to hold onto a filibuster & block the For The People Act & VRA, block living wages, block full infrastructure.
No, no, no! It’s time for organized nonviolent direct action across the nation, and it’s time for Dems to go to 50 plus 1. It’s time for Manchin to answer the question asked by the miners in the 1920s: Which side are you on?
The Amazon workers who voted for a union in Bessemer are already winners. This is just the first round. Amazon did things to intimidate & suppress the vote. The workers are filing complaints, & they will continue to stand up.
They have set a fresh trend in the South, and the echoes of their bold action will reverberate for years.
In North Carolina, it took several years for us to unionize the Smithfield plant, the world's largest hog processing plant. Like them, the Bessemer workers will eventually win the vote.
