(1/11) This is the 2nd conviction @ZLHRLawyers helped me overturn through successful appeals at the High Court.
It’s however to take note that all the 2 convictions I had were results of our justice system trying to cover up for torture against me by @PoliceZimbabwe

(2/11)I was tortured in @PoliceZimbabwe custody on 5 February 2020. They indiscriminately assaulted me with fists, booted feet & button sticks. The police repeatedly hit me under the feet & on my kneecaps. I suffered a fractured hand.
Court convicted me as cover up for my torture!
(3/11) After realizing I was injured & couldn’t walk @PoliceZimbabwe tried to force me to pay an admission of guilt fine for ‘illegal vending’ as a bargain for my freedom but I refused & they charged me with inciting public violence & resisting arrest to justify torturing me.

1] My mind is troubled by the charge and conviction of my brother @MakomboreroH

Some of us who have engaged him here and elsewhere, acknowledge that he is a well-meaning young patriot who just wants a functional, democratic Zimbabwe where constitutionalism is the norm. Image
2] To then think history will record that @MakomboreroH was convicted for "inciting violence" is ridiculous.

In his political journey, he has stood up for others, and has championed a cause that promotes the respect for fundamental human rights.

He deserves no place in prison. Image
3] Yet there is a clear logic to this madness.

Have extensively "tweeted" about how ZanuPF prefers an Opposition that "knows its place".

One that "contributes to development", not one that pushes the "regime change agenda", yet the constitution allows for it.

On the Task Before Us

The task on our shoulders as young people comrades is to increase the cost of dictatorship and continue to build a credible alternative.

The path to change has never been an easy one. It requires toughness, honesty and truth telling.
There is no struggle without its Morrison Nyati, but it is out of those experiences that we learn & unite together to launch a credible fight against an oppression
This fight requires unity, unity is key- it is to me the only buffer against perrenial intrusion & political decay.
Unity to me is that of progressive forces that form the Social contract. A National project without a consensus of progressive forces yields nothing but narrow individual goals. It benefits not the ordinary men and women who are & should be in the centre of the NDR.

1] My brother @MakomboreroH is a generational leader who believes in praxis politics.

You would think the outcome of the Gweru Congress & his countless detentions would have dampened his spirit.

alas...all he has gone through in his political life, has strengthened his resolve
2] Sadly, @MakomboreroH, one man can only do as much.

@daddyhope can only do as much.

@JobSikhala1 can only do as much.

@NgarivhumeJacob can only do as much.

The MDC Youth Assembly as a collective can only do as much.

The tragedy we find ourselves in, demands much more.
3] We find ourselves under a paranoid & draconian regime that has criminalized decent

They will continue to isolate & punish the most vocal with no sense of restraint

Every dissident voice is not safe
This is a reality that should shape our collective political course of action
