I want you to meet the Liberal-National Coalition members who were at uni while it was FREE.

Instead of making corporations pay their tax and making uni and TAFE free for all, they're doubling the cost of humanities degrees. Thread 👇🏽
The Prime Minister went to UNSW from 1986 to 1989. How much did you pay again, @ScottMorrisonMP?

You can phone him on (02) 9523 0339 if you think uni fees shouldn't skyrocket.
Foreign Minister @MarisePayne did an arts degree combined with law while at UNSW too. How can you justify doubling the cost of the humanities degrees you've benefited from?

Senator Payne's office can be reached on (02) 9687 8755

"The casualisation of university teaching is not a stop-gap solution. It is central to the business strategy of modern Australian universities."

This is a great (and scary) account of the situation in our universities.

thesaturdaypaper.com.au/opinion/topic/…
Unis have increasingly adopted the methods and culture of corporate institutions, replacing formerly collegial and democratic academic governance.

If the Libs have their way, universities will be funded only to the extent they are able to contribute to the profit-driven economy.
Ongoing funding uncertainty and the Government’s impending performance measures will be deployed in our already harsh regulatory and industrial environment to curtail scholarship and teaching that doesn’t meet the conservative benchmark of economic contribution.

The Government's attacks on low-income workers continue with the threshold for repaying student loans dropping significantly today. More people will start repaying loans just when they are starting their careers and need money the most. That’s completely unacceptable. Image
This is a mean-spirited Government intent on squeezing young people who are already struggling with low wages and the high cost of living.

We need to rethink the whole system of student debt. No one should graduate with a decade of debt ahead of them.
Australians have seen the benefits of free education, and we can have them again #FreeUniAndTAFE #auspol

Election day is tomorrow and I want to take a moment to talk about why Voting 1 @Greens in the Senate is so important...
Now more than ever, we need urgent action on climate change. Neither major party has a plan that will stop global warming of more than 1.5 ºC.

The Greens do. It makes us 100% renewable by 2030, creates 180000 jobs and is fully costed. Have a read: greens.org.au/renew-australia
Getting strong action on climate change will be difficult so long as fossil fuel companies are able to make massive donations to parties. Labor & the Liberals have taken millions. The @Greens don't take a cent and we’ll ban those donations so they can’t corrupt our democracy
