During a video call with her lawyer Zhang Keke on 12 Feb 2022, #ZhangZhan's mother revealed that Zhan's situation had improved and she had ended her hunger strike.

Zhang Zhan had started eating; the authorities had stopped force-feeding her. She had been suffering from severe abdominal pain due to a prolonged hunger strike but this was lessened. She could walk without assistance. She was willing to do some craftwork in prison.

Zhang Zhan's mother "looked less worried and had a smile on her face" during her call with the lawyer on Saturday.
