2/ Cocaine works by increasing levels of #dopamine, a neurotransmitter that regulates pleasure and reward, by blocking its reuptake leading to an accumulation in the synpatic cleft. This leads to feelings of euphoria, increased energy and alertness, and decreased appetite.
3/ Serotonin and norepinehphrine reuptake are also inhibited, leading to increases in those neurotransmitters as well. Sodium channels are also blocked, slowing down the action potentials, thus leading to its medical use as a local anesthetic.

Dit vind ik echt bijzonder schadelijk: een professor psychoanalyse aan de UGent veegt de hele medische consensus over COVID-19 van tafel als een "massapsychose" en "hypnose" onder virologen. Wetenschapsontkenning en desinformatie voor 80K kijkers. /1
Dit is de overtreffende trap van zelfoverschatting: Desmet snapt de meest elementaire zaken over deze crisis niet (IFR, PCR-tests, economische schade, preventieparadox...), maar psychoanalyseert zijn verzamelde collega's uit een ander vakgebied als lijdend aan "massapsychose". /2
Zijn versie van het drogargument "de remedie is erger dan de kwaal" (dat volkomen voorbijgaat aan de preventie-paradox) is de meest hallucinante die ik al gehoord heb van een academicus: "We redden één persoon die op het spoor ligt door de hele trein te laten ontsporen". /3
