uns quasi wieder aufgebaut. Der unbedingte Willen zu kämpfen ist nach fast 8 Wochen auf ITS mit Covid verschwunden. Vor Covid haben wir Pläne geschmiedet was wir machen wollen wenn er in der Erhaltungstherapie angekommen ist. Im Prinzip war der Konzertsommer 2022 schon verplant.
Das alles ist jetzt erstmal in weite Ferne gerückt.

also finanziell gut. Sie waren zuvor schon in Kairo erzählen sie mir. Dort habe man Hawi schon einmal mit Chemotherapie behandelt, weswegen Hawi auch bereits eine Glatze hat. Alle drei sprechen sehr gutes Englisch, Kommunikation ist also kein Problem. Doch auf meine Frage, was
für ein Tumor Hawi hat weiß keiner so Recht eine Antwort. Das habe man ihnen in Kairo nicht gesagt. Keiner hätte sich Zeit genommen mit ihnen zu reden. Nur dass es ein großer Tumor im Bauch sei. Man habe Hawi operiert, konnte aber nicht alles entfernen.

Bei der Übergabe stellt sich die Frage, wer sich um Merle und ihre Eltern kümmert. Ich melde mich, ich habe Merle dir ganze Zeit ihrer Therapie versorgt und ich würde sie auch heute Nachmittag ein letztes Mal versorgen.
Nach der Übergabe, als ich alle meine Kurven durchgeschaut habe, gehe ich leise in das Zimmer in dem Merle im Bett liegt, die weinenden Eltern daneben sitzend. Merle sieht sehr friedlich aus. Als ob sie schlafen würde. Ihre Eltern blicken zu mir auf, als sie mich sehen und ich

um Dinge wie Infusionen kümmern. Sie würden nicht Patienten waschen, keine Betten beziehen, helfen nicht beim Essen oder anderen Dingen. Wenn man niemanden hat (Familie oder Freunde) die kommen und einen waschen, liege man eben im Dreck. Denn das Pflegepersonal ist so knapp

Als Kisha wieder zur Therapie bei uns ist bekommt sie unter anderem eine Chemotherapie mit dem Namen Ifosfamid. Das kann schwere neurologische Nebenwirkungen haben. Es kann sogar zu einer Ifosfamid Intoxikation kommen.

So war es auch bei Kisha. Das ist mir so eindrücklich im Gedächtnis geblieben, da Kisha die erste Patientin war, die wir mit einer Ifosfamid Intoxikation hatten.

The year my father-in-law had cancer, I had no idea what to give as a birthday gift. Nothing seemed like it would be particularly useful or enjoyable. His treatment was going well, but he wasn't feeling great & wasn't eating much at all.

I finally decided to tempt his sweet tooth with a jar full of homemade cookies which felt like a cop-out, but there we were.
I sort of through them together, not my best, plus the jar was on the small side... so I told him the jar was refillable by request.

I chuckled the first time that jar came back empty. At least he was eating something. Then it came back again. And again. I made chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin (I hate those), chocolate crinkles, molasses, snickerdoodles, sugar cookies etc,etc, over and over again.
Rose is one of the few people in this world who emanates absolute goodness, bravery, and passion for what she does. She's been struck with an extremely difficult cancer diagnosis--please help spread the word and donate if you can.

Three years ago today Miss E went to the ER in Farmville worried she was having a heart attack. She wasn’t, but the chest X-Ray showed something weird in one of her lungs. “Probably pneumonia,” they said, and sent her home with antibiotics. 1/
A couple of weeks went by and she went back for another look at her lungs. Nothing had changed. That’s when we started to get a little concerned. They scheduled her for a biopsy. Meanwhile, life went on. We got a puppy. My car caught fire. And we waited for the procedure. 2/
When the biopsy results came back inconclusive, we were both a little relieved. We still didn’t know what was wrong yet, but whatever it was, it wasn’t something easy to detect, like cancer. We joked about bringing in Dr. House for a consultation. 3/
I try not to make too many personal posts on here, but have to make an exception today.
Today the world is a little bit worse off as it lost a great man. He’s not someone you will read about in history books, but he made a real difference in my life.

My Grandfather was born in Belarus in 1929. Obviously I loved him as anyone would his or her grandfather, but far more importantly… I admired him. I know I could never become 1/100th the man that he was, but at least he set an example that I can strive to emulate.
He managed to survive the Holocaust, the horrors of the USSR, and incredible hardships, but lung cancer finally got him at the age of 89.
The stories he would tell of what he went through, mostly forced out by me, are things that are hard to really imagine nowadays.

I’m gonna try to distract myself from thinking about tomorrow (and now get that stupid Fleetwood Mac song out of my head) with a little thread on the deplatforming of another controversial media figure from an earlier day: Dr. J.R Brinkley, the “goat gland doctor”. 1/
John Romulus Brinkley was a real doctor. Or at least he had a certificate from something called the Kansas City Eclectic Medical University and in 1915 that was good enough to practice medicine in eight states. Dr. Brinkley was in business. 2/
